Geralt of Rivia grew two inches overnight.
After Henry Cavill exited “The Witcher,” a first look at Season 4 of the Netflix series teases new star Liam Hemsworth as the recast character. A Google search lists Cavill at 6’1″ and Hemsworth as 6’3″ — if you can believe those things.
Per the synopsis: After the shocking, Continent-altering events that closed out Season 3, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan) who are faced with separately traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons. If they can embrace and lead the respective groups of misfits they find themselves in, the trio have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire and finding one another again.
The ensemble cast includes Joey Batey (Jaskier), Laurence Fishburne (Regis) Eamon Farren (Cahir), Anna Shaffer (Triss Merigold), Mimî M Khayisa (Fringilla), Cassie Clare (Philippa), Mahesh Jadu (Vilgefortz), Meng’er Zhang (Milva), Graham McTavish (Dijkstra), Royce Pierreson (Istredd...

Netflix has officially revealed a first look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in the upcoming fourth season of The Witcher in a new video.
After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire and finding one another again.
The streaming service previously gave the green light to Season 5 of The Witcher, which will film back-to-back with Season 4 and will be the final chapter in Geralt’s story.
Seasons 4 and 5 will adapt the remaining Sapkowski books, Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake, promising an epic and satisfying conclusion to Netflix’s hit fantasy drama.

Sydney Sweeney‘s second film of 2024 is finally here, let’s hope that it doesn’t turn into a disaster like the first one. Produced by Sweeney herself, Immaculate is a psychological horror film and it follows the story of a young nun who joins a convent in the Italian countryside. Her quiet life quickly turns into a nightmare because of the horrific secrets hidden in the convent. Directed by Michael Mohan, Immaculate also stars Simona Tabasco, Benedetta Porcaroli, and Álvaro Morte. So, if you loved Sweeney’s horror film here are some similar movies you should check out next.
The Convent
Co-written and directed by Paul Hyett, the 2018 film British horror film titled The Convent gives a similar atmosphere to Sweeney’s Immaculate. The Convent tells us the story of a group of young women seeking refuge from the turmoil of World War II in an isolated convent in the countryside.

Who among us hasn’t fallen for a bad boy once or twice? Maybe he’s the cute senior trying to cheat off of us in Algebra. Maybe he jumped our car when the battery died outside the mall. Or maybe he’s our fiancé’s hot brother knocking on our door in the middle of a rainstorm just desperate for a towel. Whatever the case, we all know what it’s like to get pulled into an illicit, but ill-advised affair. Sure it seems exciting at first, but it rapidly spirals into the further regions of hell.
Julia Cotton (Clare Higgins) finds herself in a similar situation in Clive Barker’s decadent masterpiece Hellraiser. When she hooks up with her future brother-in-law Frank (Sean Chapman) just days before the wedding, she allows herself to taste the sinful pleasures not available in...

Everybody loves a bad boy. There’s something appealing about a guy who disregards the rules and dreamy delinquents have been known to make even wholesome girls grow weak in the knees. Sometimes it’s the air of danger that heightens the appeal, allowing us to look past the most monstrous physiques.

Few believe Kirsty, except the thrill-seeking Dr. Channard (Kenneth Cranham), who is so intrigued by her frightening stories that he teams up with a newly resurrected Julia. In the 1980s, Clive Barker changed the face of horror fiction, throwing out the rules to expose new vistas of terror and beauty – and with Hellraiser, his first feature film as director, he did the same for cinema. The film was a smash hit at the box office, making fifteen times its budget, and went on to garner even more fans on home video. It became a hugely popular horror franchise, securing Pinhead and the Cenobites a place in the Horror Hall of fame.

A couple years ago, screenwriter Peter Atkins – who worked on the scripts for the first three Hellraiser sequels – published his original screenplay for the famously troubled fourth film, Hellraiser: Bloodline (the script is available for purchase at This Link), saying, “Whilst you’ll never get to see a Director’s Cut of Hellraiser: Bloodline, you can read in this book what was supposed to be…” But even though the production was too complicated for us to ever see a proper director’s cut, there is a “newly uncovered workprint version” – and it’s going to be included in Arrow Video’s upcoming 4K box set release of the first four Hellraiser movies!

Freshly announced this morning, Arrow Video is bringing the Hellraiser franchise to 4K Ultra HD with a brand new Hellraiser: Quartet of Torment Limited Edition 4K Uhd set.
The upcoming set features the following Hellraiser movies:
Hellraiser (1987) Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988) Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992) Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)
The most exciting aspect of this release? Arrow’s Hellraiser: Quartet of Torment set features the newly uncovered Workprint Version of fourth installment Hellraiser: Bloodline!
This never-before-seen version of the 1996 sequel, directed by Kevin Yagher, “provides a fascinating insight into how it changed during post production.” The initial cut of the movie ran 110 minutes long, but the studio executives at Miramax demanded major changes that resulted in Yagher departing the project. The final cut ultimately ended up running 85 minutes long, and Yagher was so unhappy with the finished product that he took his name off the movie. That’s why Hellraiser: Bloodline is...

Director David Bruckner’s Hellraiser reboot just made a big and gooey splash on Hulu. In its messy aftermath, folks are discovering the old burning questions fans have long had about the world of Cenobites and chains: Are these creatures, created by Clive Barker, demons out of the actual biblical Hell, and is their menacing puzzle box (aka the Lament Configuration) a gateway to the whole of damnation, debasement, and diabolical disfiguration? Or is it something more… delicious? The original Pinhead in 1987 teased that they are “demons to some, angels to others.” So can these monsters represent a more heavenly glow? (And is that any better?)

Warning: The article below contains major spoilers for 2022's "Hellraiser."
David Bruckner's "Hellraiser" reboot boasts exquisite design work and chilling Cenobites, giving diehard fans of the franchise a unique take on who or what unlocks the Lament Configuration box. Unlike the original film, which saw a thirsty — and showstopping — Julia (Claire Higgins) feeding men to resurrect her sleazy ex-lover Frank (Sean Chapman), the reboot focuses on what drives humanity's hunger for pleasure and pain.
Bruckner interweaves themes like substance abuse and recovery into the story, positioning Riley (Odessa A'zion) as someone who has lost control over her vices. Her brother, Matt (Brandon Flynn), has become exhausted with Riley's sobriety journey. In this light, the film's indirect and direct violence becomes a metaphor for how living with addictions can spiral into harming others, intentionally or not.
While the film doesn't deliver the strongest of characters, there's still power in Bruckner's...

Then there's "Cruel Intentions," the 1999 modern adaptation which reimagines the classic story against the backdrop of wealthy high school teenagers in New York City.
The critically-acclaimed story will now head to television and the focus will be on the origin story of the novel's characters. The Starz series will illustrate how Marquise de Merteuil (Alice Englert) and the Vicomte de Valmont (Nicholas Denton) met as passionate young lovers in Paris and will represent the extravagance of the French aristocracy ahead of the French revolution. The couple is known for their expertise in the arena...

Frank, ya basic!
After looking at two very different types of queer-coded bromances in Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse and Rob Underwood’s Tremors, we took a trip to Poland to analyze the trans allegory in the mermaid horror musical The Lure. This week, we’re heading back into the twisted mind of Clive Barker to discuss his infamous directorial debut, Hellraiser, on the week of its 35th anniversary!
In the film, hedonist Frank (Sean Chapman) inadvertently opens a portal to hell when he tinkers with a box he bought while abroad. The act unleashes gruesome beings called Cenobites, who tear Frank’s body apart. When Frank’s brother Larry (Andrew Robinson) and his wife Julia (Clare Higgins) move into Frank’s old house, they accidentally bring what is left of Frank back to life. Frank then convinces Julia, his one-time lover, to lure men back to the house so he...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Season 3, Episode 8 of Trying, “The End of the Beginning.”] Apple TV+‘s charming dramedy Trying has officially wrapped its third season as the finale dropped Friday, September 2, and with it comes big changes for Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall), the couple at the center of it all. After being granted permission to care for adoptive children Princess (Eden Togwell) and Tyler (Mickey McAnulty), Nikki and Jason were faced with plenty of challenges that could threaten the new life they were building, primarily the efforts of Princess and Tyler’s biological grandmother Bev (Clare Higgins) who was trying to secure custody herself. “I found that so heartbreaking,” Smith admits of Bev’s inclusion in Nikki and Jason’s adoption efforts. It’s a layer of adoption that some shows or films might not address, but one that was integral to this story. “That’s another human being that has a very specific...

While 1987’s Hellraiser never set the box office on fire and split critics down the middle, Clive Barker’s supernatural horror film has gone on to become a cult classic, spawning nine sequels. The films, centered on a mystical puzzle box called the Lament Configuration that summons extra-dimensional, sadomasochistic beings called Cenobites who cannot differentiate between pain and pleasure, are anchored by their leader Pinhead, who has rightfully become a horror movie icon.
Since the movie monster’s big screen debut, most of the sequels have featured English actor Doug Bradley in the role of Pinhead, and all of the Hellraiser films up to this point have portrayed Pinhead as a male character. That all changes with Hulu’s upcoming Hellraiser reboot from director David Bruckner. For the first time, Pinhead will be presented as a woman and portrayed by Sense8 actress Jaime Clayton. You can see the first look of Clayton as Pinhead below.

"Hellraiser" is like many horror franchises in that it starts out with a classic and gets off a couple of worthy sequels before turning into absolute dreck. It is, however, unlike your typical slasher series in that there's no reason it should go sailing off the rails.
The premise is evergreen: in a moment of curiosity, a person futzes around with the Lament Configuration, unleashes the sadomasochistic Cenobites, and scrambles to bargain their way out of, or simply forestall, eternal torture. Clive Barker's first film juxtaposed the wanton sexual adventurousness of Frank (Sean Chapman) and Julia Cotton (Clare Higgins) against the teenage innocence of their niece/stepdaughter Kirsty (Ashley Laurence). Director Tony Randel continued this narrative with the wondrously depraved "Hellbound: Hellraiser II," while Anthony Hickox broke off from the Cottons for the interesting "Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth." The next six sequels were excruciatingly awful.

David Brucker's new film "Hellraiser," based on Clive Barker's 1986 novella "The Hellbound Heart," will be released on Hulu on October 7, 2022. It will be the eleventh film in the "Hellraiser" series.
One of the more striking elements of "Hellraiser" is its particular mythology. In the original 1987 "Hellraiser" feature film, written and directed by Barker, Hell was not depicted as the sin-based, punitive, Christian version of the realm as seen in Dante's "Inferno," but as something more akin to a particularly hard-edged S&m club. In Barker's estimation, the body and the soul are intertwined, and Hell is designed for seekers of the ultimate physical and sexual experience. When a seeker opens up a mysterious puzzle box, it summons a quartet of immortal, leather-clad Cenobites whose bodies are in a constant state of mutilation. The Cenobites, using chains, hooks, and other scary cutting devices, rend their victim to shreds, showing that...

Hulu has announced that its reimagining of the 1987 horror classic Hellraiser will debut exclusively on the streamer in the U.S., as part of its annual “Huluween” celebration of fright-filled content, on October 7.
The original film, which introduced horror fans to the iconic monster known as Pinhead, watches as a woman comes upon the newly resurrected, partially formed body of her brother-in-law. She then starts killing for him to revitalize his body, so that he can escape the demonic beings that have been pursuing him after he himself made his way out of their sadistic underworld. Clive Barker directed the pic from his own script, which was itself based on his 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart, with Clare Higgins, Ashley Laurence, Andrew Robinson, Sean Chapman, Robert Hines, Doug Bradley, Nicholas Vince, Simon Bamford, Grace Kirby and Oliver Smith starring.

Sometimes, filmmakers look to use horror as a means to make us confront the things that we fear in society and in ourselves. Other times, they just want to throw some blood and scares at us to see if they can make us squirm. It only takes a few minutes of Paul Hyett’s The Convent to realize that he’s going for the latter, and that doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing.
The titular convent is a 17th century home to an order of nuns, where lost soul Persephone (Hannah Arterton) has landed after narrowly escaping being burned as a witch. Her savior, the Reverend Mother (Clare Higgins), convinces the local magistrate that she can redeem Persephone’s soul if given the chance. But Persephone soon learns that the road to redemption in this house is paved with emotional and physical abuse. To make matters worse,...

Into the Badlands Season 3 Episode 13
There’s a scene towards the beginning of the episode where the Magnus of the Black Lotus (Francis Magee) challenges Sunny’s newly revealed long-lost sister Kannin (Eugenia Yuan) with what seems like impossible task: activating her brother’s dark-eyed powers. He picks up a huge hourglass (which he calls “a souvenir from Azra”), turns it over, and sets it down on his table. “You have until the sand runs out to turn him,” Magnus says, and walks out the room, leaving Kannin to wonder how the hell she’s going to make Sunny a dark-eyed one in the next 30 odd minutes.

I’ve got a freaky little trailer here for a new supernatural horror thriller called The Convent and the story is set in the 17th century during a time when being a witch was frowned upon.
This movie tells the story of a young woman who is falsely accused of being a witch and sent to be executed. However, she is saved from the execution and taken to a priory to repent her sins. While she is there, she discovers that something more sinister and evil is lurking there.
The main character, Persephone (Hannah Arterton) starts having horrific visions and she realizes that she won’t find salvation among the nuns because at this convent, nuns can’t be saved. They’re all evil!

Vertical Entertainment has unveiled the trailer for “The Convent,” which seeks to answer an age-old question: How many horror movies about nuns does America have room in its heart for? Continuing a trend reignited by last year’s “The Conjuring” spinoff “The Nun” and dating back to the likes of “To the Devil a Daughter” and “Mother Joan of the Angels,” Paul Hyett’s film is very much back in the habit. Watch the trailer below.

What first attracted you to actor Gregory Blair’s script?
When Templeheart gave me the script of Heretiks (although it was a different title at the time), the one thing that really grabbed my interest was the opportunity to do a creepy period horror, set in 17th Century England. I’d already shot a war-set film, a contemporary werewolf film and here was an opportunity to do a film set in the 17th century where young girls were put on trial for witchcraft, of which some were drowned, hanged and so much worse. It was a truly dark and fearful time in the history of England, one that I was keen to portray on screen, and adding to that a supernatural element, was hard to resist.
What did you and your Seasoning House co-writer Conal Palmer bring to the final screenplay?
Conal and I did an extensive rewrite, as I remember,...

Tagline: "Forgive Us Our Sins." The first trailer for Heretiks has debuted today. The clip shows a woman accused of witchcraft and sentenced to death. However, a reverend intervenes and gives her a second chance to conquer her demons. Heretiks was directed by Paul Hyett (Howl), from a script written by Gregory Blair (Deadly Revisions) and Conal Palmer (The Seasoning House). Heretiks also stars Michael Ironside (Patient Seven), Clare Higgins (Hellraiser) and Hannah Arterton. This title is expected to have its World Premiere at this year's Frightfest, in London. Fans with a strong stomach can find the eye-popping trailer below. The synopsis for Heretiks begins with Persephone's (Arterton) trial. She is rescued before deliberation by the Reverend Mother (Higgins). However, in an isolated Priory, the spirits of evil continue to pursue Persephone. What sins have drawn such demonic forces to her? The World Premiere, for Heretiks, is scheduled for August 25th.

Released in theaters a little more than 14 months after its predecessor, Hellbound: Hellraiser II had the unenviable task of following up one of the most innovative and boundary-pushing genre films of the 1980s. Tony Randel took over the directorial duties on Hellbound, and he did a brilliant job sidestepping the pitfalls that can often trip up a sequel film effort, ambitiously blazing a new path in the Hellraiser universe by taking viewers into the labyrinthine realm of Leviathan and providing fans with a greater understanding of the franchise’s Cenobite antiheroes as well. Hellraiser II also introduces one of the series’ most dominant and unforgettable villains by way of Dr. Channard (Kenneth Cranham) and transforms Hellraiser’s wicked stepmother Julia (Clare Higgins) into a bona fide evil queen.
Simply put, Hellraiser II is a perfect example of what every filmmaker at the helm of a sequel should aspire to achieve,...
