Last week, more than 400 TV creators and showrunners — all of them women — sent letters to top executives at Hollywood studios demanding that specific safety protocols be put in place for pregnant employees in states where abortion has been outlawed, or soon will be. Now, letters of support signed by 594 men — including J.J. Abrams, Jordan Peele, Greg Berlanti, Donald Glover, Aaron Sorkin, David E. Kelley, Taika Waititi and Ryan Murphy — have been sent to the same companies.
The text of the letter is short, simply saying the undersigned stand with their “female, trans & non-binary showrunner colleagues in demanding a response from our employers regarding the imminent crisis” at hand. It was delivered by replying-all to the first letter, and was sent to Disney, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Apple, NBC Universal, Amazon, Lionsgate and AMC.
These activist correspondences have been instigated by the Supreme Court’s June 24 Dobbs decison, which overturned Roe v.

Pauley Perrette is reflecting on her experience on Broke following Thursday’s cancellation by CBS of the multi-camera comedy after one season.
“About the ‘limited series’ #Broke Many new episodes are airing. This show restored my faith in people, in this industry. So Grateful I worked with this cast & crew Best people I’ve Ever worked with. Healed me. Changed me. Made me whole. So Blessed,” Perrette tweeted.
In the tweet, Perrette posted a video message about her thoughts on the May 7 episode of Broke. “Losing My Religion,” is “the most important half-hour of television that I’ve ever done and the thing I am most proud of,” Perrette said.
“In the middle of a primetime sitcom, we are doing a beautiful episode about faith and about God and about getting through trials and tribulations with our faith and our relationship to God,” she said.

In 2009, CBS Television Studios made a bet on an up-and-coming TV writer, Jennie Snyder Urman, who had staffed on a couple of shows. The bet paid off for both sides, with Urman becoming one of the most prolific showrunners on the studio roster, generating multiple series, the award-winning Jane the Virgin, the ongoing Charmed reboot, the underrated Emily Owens, MD and the upcoming Broke.
Now she has re-upped her overall deal with CBS TV Studios through 2025. The massive five-year pact is said to be one of the biggest at CBS TV Studios and well into the eight figures.
Under the new production agreement, Urman will continue to create and develop series for CBS TV Studios through Sutton Street Productions, the company she launched more than two years ago with longtime friend and veteran TV executive Joanna Klein.

CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl briefly addressed the long-simmering feud between Pauley Perrette and her former “NCIS” co-star Mark Harmon on Thursday following his executive session during the Television Critics Association press tour.
“I can’t speak to what she’s addressing in her tweets,” Kahl told reporters. “We’re very happy to have her on the air again this year with us. I don’t think she would be back with us if she had huge concerns.”
Perrette, who is making her return to the network at midseason with the new comedy “Broke,” tweeted in June that she would never return to “NCIS,” which she starred on for 15 seasons before leaving in 2018 because she was “terrified” of Harmon. As TheWrap previously reported, Perrette exited the long-running drama amid conflict with Harmon over an on-set incident involving a dog bite.

CBS has picked up three dramas and four comedies for the 2019-2020 season.
The dramas are “Evil” from Robert and Michelle King, the spinoff “FBI: Most Wanted,” and the legal drama “All Rise,” formerly known as “Courthouse.” The comedies are the multi-cams “Broke,” “Carol’s Second Act,” and “Bob Hearts Abishola” and the single-cam “The Unicorn.”
Interestingly, two former stars of the now canceled Marvel-Netflix series “Luke Cage” will appear in CBS’ new shows, albeit on different series. Mike Colter will star in “Evil” while Simone Missick will star in “All Rise.” Another Marvel-Netflix alum, Wilson Bethel, will star in “All Rise” with Missick. Bethel played the villain Bullseye in “Daredevil” Season 3.

“Will & Grace” returns this fall and, by the looks of it, the quartet at the center is still the same, even in a new decade.
On Thursday, NBC released the first footage from the revival series, which you can watch in the sneak peek below. In it, we see the state of Jack’s (Sean Hayes) love life and that Karen (Megan Mullally) clearly is a Trump supporter.

The tabloids think Anderson Cooper is stretching himself too thin, seeing him nap while waiting for jury duty. In my opinion, he's used to disaster zones where you catch what naps you can. Now I just need to know the magic words he used to get excused from jury duty.
In this list of the Top 50 Power Showrunners, I can't help but notice that there are several gay power players on the Drama list, like Alan Ball and Kevin Williamson, but the Comedy list looks very heterosexual. I wonder why?
I didn't watch The Glee Project, so I don't know a lot about Damian McGinty. But his first photo from the set looks like he's getting treated more like Kurt in the pilot than the glee club these days.

As soon as we thought we could predict the outcome of the Oscars, here comes another surprise! This one's brought to you by the Writers Guild of America. Picked for Best Original Screenplay was Christopher Nolan's "Inception." The director, famously dissed for not getting a Best Director Oscar nomination, may just win the Best Original Screenplay come Oscar night. Oscar front-runner, "The King's Speech" was not nominated because it didn't quality under union rules which prompted Nolan to say during his WGA acceptance award that he looked forward to a time when he could accept the award "without qualification."
That could be the beginning of a great script Mr. Nolan, go write it :happy
For adapted screenplay, I'm happy to report that Aaron Sorkin's fantastic script won! Based on "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich, "The Social Network" was the only film last year that I predicted to win this very category.

AMC's "The Walking Dead" is vying for new series prize, battling "Boardwalk Empire", "Justified", "Treme" and "Men of a Certain Age" along the way. "Empire" in particular is also nominated for drama series against older and more prominent shows like "Mad Men" and "Dexter".

One of the biggest success stories of the new TV season is "Modern Family," ABC's rejuvenation of the family sitcom, albeit a slightly twisted take. Most actors in the show's flawless ensemble are veterans of other series, which run the gamut from iconic to swiftly canceled. For example, "Modern Family" patriarch Ed O'Neill will forever be beloved as "Married…With Children" dad Al Bundy, while his onscreen son Jesse Tyler Ferguson previously starred on the short-lived sitcom "The Class," and TV daughter Julie Bowen has a trio of solid series ("Lost," "Boston Legal," and "Ed") under her belt. Ty Burrell, playing Bowen's clueless husband, was a regular on two previous series, as was Sofia Vergara, who plays O'Neill's trophy wife.Rounding out this picture-perfect family is Eric Stonestreet as Cameron, the gregarious longtime partner of Ferguson's uptight lawyer Mitchell. Though Stonestreet has been working regularly since his TV debut on a 1999 episode of "Dharma & Greg,...

Two more comedy pilots received the green light at ABC on Thursday, including the Lauren Graham vehicle "Let It Go."
The single-camera "Let It Go," from Sony TV and studio-based Tantamount, stars Graham as a self-help guru who teaches women how to "let it go' but fails to follow her own advice when her perfect boyfriend dumps her.
Alex Herschlag ("Will & Grace") penned the script and is exec producing the pilot with Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Mitch Hurwitz. Graham will serve as a producer.
The second pilot picked up Thursday is an untitled multi-camera comedy from writer-exec producer Tad Quill ("Scrubs") and ABC Studios.
The project revolves around two forty-something friends who embark on very different lives -- one with a new baby and one with a newly empty nest.

One of the most frustrating realities of series television is that sooner or later, our favorite TV shows will likely be cancelled. Fortunately, many of the actors go on to films and other TV shows like Samantha Who?, Nip/Tuck, Fringe, and CSI: NY.
Here's where you'll be able to find Brittany Robertson (Swingtown), Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch), Jessica Collins (Tru Calling), Mark Deklin (The Ex List), Mary Beth Peil (Dawson's Creek), Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls), Alex Herschlag (Will & Grace), Adhir Kalyan (Aliens in America), Adrien Brody (The O.C.), Michael Chiklis (The Shield), Fred Willard (Back to You), Jean Smart (Designing Women), Zach Galifianakis (Tru Calling), Ray Liotta (Smith), Erik Knudsen (Jericho), Craig T. Nelson (Coach), Betty White (Bob, The Golden Girls), Mary Steenburgen (Joan of Arcadia), Michael Mosley (Kidnapped), and Jaleel White (Family Matters).
To start, Brittany Robertson (Swingtown) has landed the lead role in an hour pilot for the CW.

Hey, Lauren Graham. Damn, girl, where have you been? You look great, by the way. What's Rory up to these days? Wait, shoot, fiction-reality, reality-fiction. Though, looks like I will be happily blurring those lines again now that you'll be returning to TV as the star of a new series.
According to Variety, the as-yet-untitled half-hour sitcom has Lauren playing a self-help guru who “teaches women how to live a stress-free life — but struggles to follow her own advice when her boyfriend dumps her.” I like the teaching women part. I'm not sure about the struggling-after-being-dumped-by–her-boyfriend part. Also, it will take a little getting used to seeing Lauren on TV without Alexis Bledel.
Giving me even more pause is that Lauren has signed her production deal with ABC. You know, the channel that fired Brooke Smith and canceled Pushing Daisies. Just when I thought I was out, ABC tries to pull me back in.

After "Gilmore Girls" ended in 2007, the show's star Lauren Graham has spent much time outside the primetime, but not anymore. Variety reported that the actress who portrays Lorelai Gilmore, will bounce back to a comedy drama series produced by ABC.
The show will center around her character, a self-help guru who empowers women to live a stress-free life, but finds it hard to follow her own advices when her boyfriend leaves her. No title or air date have been thrown out yet.
"Will & Grace" writer Alex Herschlag will produce the show along with Graham herself. Hersclag is also working on a new Fox animated comedy "Sit Down, Shut Up".
Graham has been taking the big screen roles such as "Evan Almighty" and "Flash of Genius" after "Gilmore". She has also completed the filming of "Arlen Faber" which will be released next year.

Alex Herschlag and David Flebotte have been tapped as co-showrunners/exec producers of NBC's veteran comedy Will & Grace. Additionally, Friends alumnus Greg Malins has come on board the NBC Universal TV show as co-executive producer. "We couldn't be more excited about these new moves and are confident that the Emmy-winning Will & Grace will be stronger and funnier than ever," NBC Uni TV co-president Angela Bromstad said.
