Andrew Lloyd Webber casually announced that his contemporary musical version of Cinderella, with a book by The Crown actress/Killing Eve writer Emerald Fennell, will arrive on Broadway next year.
During an interview on UK’s Good Morning Britain (watch it below) this week, the Cats composer, asked about his unrelenting work habits, said, “I’ve got a new version of Cinderella that’s opening on Broadway next year.”
No additional details were provided, and a spokesman for Lloyd Webber could not confirm Broadway plans for the musical.
At the very least, though, the composer’s comment confirms considerable recent speculation in London’s theater press about Lloyd Webber’s hopes for the recently workshopped Cinderella. With lyrics by David Zippel and Fennell’s book, the new Cinderella reportedly has the title heroine falling in love with a man named Sebastian after Prince Charming has his own fling with a duke.

I thought throwing out my Annie CDs would be easy--i thought I only had one Obviously that would be the indispensable Original Broadway Cast Recording with Dorothy Loudon and Andrea McArdle. How wrong I was I knew that, as a kid, I had the tape of the 1982 movie soundtrack with Carol Burnett and Aileen Quinn and an all-star supporting cast, but I didn't remember buying it on CD. And when the hell did I get the CD of the 1999 TV version with Kathy Bates and an all-star cast And, oh yeah... I forgot about this studio album from the 90s with studio cast queen Kim Criswell--I think I bought back in the day somehow convincing myself Ruthie Henshall was playing Annie. Spoiler alert She plays Grace. Oh, and I do remember this '30thAnniversary' deluxe production with Chicago area diva and original star of the sequel, Annie Warbucks Alene Robertson...

As filming continues on Doctor Who Series Seven in Wales, we take a look at what we know about the first part of the Doctor’s new adventures, including the departures of Amy and Rory, a return for the Daleks, and of course the arrival of his new side-kick.
Episode by episode, here is the rundown of what is known about the shows to be broadcast in 2012.
Episode 1
The return of the Daleks to Doctor Who will see possibly the largest gathering of the Doctor’s most famous enemy, and also Daleks from different eras of the show’s history. While the lethal dustbins may have been a little bit samey in their last few appearances, I’m not expecting it to be any run of the mill Dalek episode.
All in all, sounds like a positive start to the new series.

Louie Spence has been linked with a judging role on Dancing on Ice. The former Pineapple Dance Studios star is one of a number of people who are of interest to the ITV1 reality show's producers, according to The Sun. The paper also reports that current judges Jason Gardiner and Emma Bunton have not yet been offered new deals for next year's show. An insider claimed: "This year's judging lineup is being taken to the wire. Producers want to refresh things and Jason and Emma look the most vulnerable. "The show has been running for several years, and like all ITV shows they are overhauled occasionally to keep viewers interested." Former Spice Girls singer Bunton joined the panel in December 2009, replacing West End star Ruthie Henshall. Choreographer (more)...

British model-turned-actress Lily Cole has impressed audiences and raised money for charity with a star turn in Kevin Spacey's annual theatre extravaganza in London.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus beauty starred in a musical piece for The 24 Hour Plays event at the Old Vic theatre, where Spacey serves as artistic director, on Sunday.
Cole admits she was racked with nerves before taking to the stage alongside West End stars Janie Dee and Ruthie Henshall.
She tells London's Evening Standard, "If I had really thought about it logically it would have been so terrifying, I would have frozen. I just rolled with it. I had a really fun time. I didn't expect to be in that company. But I felt really, really honoured to get to work with these two women for a day."
The gala raised $240,000 (£150,000) for the upkeep of the theatre and its educational programs.

'I don't like other actors much – they're mostly insecure and needy. I can't bear that "luvvy darling" thing'
What got you started?
Real ale. When I was 15 I joined the Glasgow Youth Theatre. After one of the first sessions, we went along to a pub in the Gorbals, where we were allowed to sit and drink in a secret snug behind the bar. I thought, if this is what acting's all about, make mine a double.
What was your big breakthrough?
Gregory's Girl was the start of it all. But equally important for me was doing my first musical, She Loves Me, in 1995 – I discovered the joy of singing.
What have you sacrificed for your art?
Living in Scotland. My first agent, Duncan Heath, told me I needed to move to London to make my career work. I was 18 when I moved, and I didn't tell my mum and dad.

It's time for the Monday Monologue.
I don't think we've ever discussed Oliver! (1968) in all the years of The Film Experience. Weird. Today it's often disparaged as a typical example of the bloat of 1960s musicals. It's six Oscar haul (including Best Picture) is to blame for much of the critical animosity it engenders. Oscar enthusiasts know that winning the big prize isn't always good for your place in film history.
When I was a child I couldn't get enough of this musicalized telling of Oliver Twist. And it probably won't surprise you to hear that literally every one of my favorite scenes was focused on Nancy, the prostitute with the heart of gold (Shani Wallis). It may well have been the first movie to unlock my actressexuality. I was obsessed with Nancy's sadness, her maternal instincts, her slightly forced joy, her ginger hair, her heaving bosom.
