With many back to back releases, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a busy man. The actor, who had taken some time out for Kushan Nandy's Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, had to however put the film on hold as the film faced a lot of resistance whilst shooting in West Bengal. And now, the makers have decided to shift the plotline to a North Indian backdrop.
It so happened that after .Babumoshai Bandookbaaz went on floor in West Bengal, the Fctwei (Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India) and the director of the film Kushan Nandy faced several disputes which forced the team of the film to leave the state. Kushan had further also accused that these labourers extorted a whopping amount of Rs. 55 lakhs from him and hence, the upset filmmaker also announced that he will never return to the state for the film.
With these controversies around, there were speculations...

53 years ago Waheedaji had done a Bengali film with the doyen of Indian cinema Satyajit Ray. Now she is back in Arshinagar, a Bengali film directed by Aparna Sen. She recalls the experience with pleasurable laughter. "When I was offered Abhijaan I didn't know any Bengali at all. But Satyajit Ray Saab insisted, saying my character spoke a mixture of Bhojpuri, Hindi, Urdu and Bengali. I agreed only because he had faith in me." Waheedaji did another Bengali film Jeevan Je Rokom featuring Ranjit Mallick which according to her didn't turn out that well. She loved shooting in Kolkata. "I've shot many films in Hindi and some in Bangla in Kolkata. It's always a pleasure to be part of the city." Waheedaji admits she has always been low on self-esteem. "I always feel I wouldn't be able to carry off what the directors require from me. Luckily I manage. I...

Barfi!
Stars: Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopran Ileana D’Cruz, Rupa Ganguly, Saurabh Shukla | Written and Directed by: Anurag Basu
When Bollywood decides to tackle things like disabilities, I’m always certain they’re going to it horribly wrong. They don’t always, like Asperger’s Syndrome in My Name Is Khan, and dyslexia in Taare Zameen Par. The right writers and director can do things with the appropriate sensitivity, as Anurag Basu does in Barfi! with a deaf and mute boy, and a girl with Autism.
Told in flashbacks of various characters telling their stories of the life of Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor), a deaf and mute boy. One of them, is Shruti (Ileana D’Cruz), a girl who moves to Darjeeling, who Barfi falls for and quickly makes her fall for him too. But she is already engaged and they go separate ways when she’s gets married. The film...

Aamir Khan handled the very sensitive issue of the dyslexia in his film Taare Zameen Par. Well, the debutante director Shashi Verma is now all set to walk the similar path with his offering Papa Please, a film that will focus on the undue pressure that today's children are subjected to in order to ace their academics. The film stars Sanjay Suri along with Vipin Sharma and Roopa Ganguly. The film is being produced by Dr. Deepankar Roy and Binod Gupta. While Tzp showed the father-son relationship, Papa Please will have the father-daughter relationship as its peg. Sanjay Suri (who plays a teacher in this film) said that even though the template of the film is the same (like Tzp), the story is absolutely different. He also added that the film exhibits the girl's point of view who has immense pressure of topping every time and how this pressure affects her psyche.

Rabindra Sangeet in English? Who but Usha Uthup would ever imagine such a thing! The indefatigable singer has pulled it off and even roped in a very unconventional pair of Naseeruddin Shah and Roopa Ganguly for a music video..It was such an honour and pleasure working with Naseer. He.s a dear friend, and a sport. He agreed to do the music video in a jiffy,. said Usha..Actually, I.ve done a whole album of Rabindra Sangeet in English. But I could only afford one music video. Why an album of Rabindra Sangeet? Well, it.s a long story..Forty-two years ago when I sang my first song on a public stage I chose an Irish song. I didn.t know it had its roots in a Rabindra song. When people pointed out the kinship between my Irish song and Rabindra Sangeet, I was hooked. So you could say,...

Director: Rajshree Ojha, Writers: Rajshree Ojha, Anuvab Pal (based on the stories of Nirmal Verma), Actors: Victor Banerjee, Roopa Ganguly, Soha Ali Khan, Ankur Khanna, Kiera Chaplin etc.
There aren’t many literary adaptations in Indian cinema these days. So an effort to render Nirmal Verma’s stories on celluloid is a welcome endeavor. However, it is also a tad too ambitious. The stories that are simple yet delve into the complexities of human relationships may appear visually-oriented, but to hold them together cinematically via an engaging narrative demands much more than an adept ensemble cast. This is where Chaurahen disappoints: it limits itself to a high-flown, philosophical montage of scenes where it is difficult to identify with or feel for any of the characters. Because they spent most of their time philosophizing about life instead of behaving like mere mortals with motives. Not to mention, the fact that they...
