- In Los Angeles in October 1968, he was confronted by a police officer while in the process of hitting parked cars with a 3 foot long iron pipe. He then attacked the officer, loudly proclaiming that he was both Jesus Christ AND God. The officer, who suffered a broken right hand, shot Fuller in the chest. Fuller underwent surgery at Los Angeles Medical Centre and was later said to have recovered (at least physically).

- In a news article from November 1953, Fuller's ex-wife Joi Lansing said she filed for divorce from Fuller due to his addiction to gambling and staying out all night.
- Best known for 50s run-of-the-mill horror and sci-fi pictures, many now receiving cult status.
- Tested for and nearly won the role of the young boy in The Yearling (1946). The picture was delayed and he outgrew the part. Claude Jarman Jr. was cast instead.
