- Actor/manager, the son of Jewish immigrants. Had a comic German immigrant act with vaudeville partner Joe Weber. With Weber, Fields operated his own theatre in New York from the mid-1890's until 1918. He subsequently opened and managed another theatre well into the 1930's.
- Vaudeville comedy partner of Joe Weber, he appeared sometimes with, sometimes without his partner in silents and talkies through 1940.
- Active on Broadway as a producer, director, playwright and actor from 1899- 1932 (see "other works").
