The actress appeared on Rachel Bilson’s podcast Broad Ideas and opened up about the “rampant misogyny” and the challenges she faced being “the only woman around.”

Callies surprised Bilson and her co-host Olivia Allen at the revelation, with the Prison Break alum saying she “will get there on the podcast” about the series she co-hosts with Paul Adelstein.

Exclusive: Rockmond Dunbar has joined the recurring cast of Peacock’s upcoming limited series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, starring and executive produced by Kevin Hart. This marks Dunbar’s first acting job since he was terminated from 9-1-1 in 2021 over not complying with the studio’s Covid vaccine mandate after his requests for a medical and religious exemptions were rejected. The actor subsequently filed a $1M lawsuit against Disney over the firing, with the case now headed to trial.
Fight Night tells the infamous story of how an armed robbery during the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life, but an entire city’s destiny.
Dunbar will play Uncle Willie, who owns an autobody shop but his real job is as the top fence in the area. He joins an ensemble cast led by Hart, Samuel L. Jackson and Terrence Howard.

Following the lawsuit initiated by Rockmond Dunbar two years ago, a U.S. court has ruled that 20th Television must undergo a religious discrimination trial for firing the former 9-1-1 cast member over his refusal to take the Covid-19 vaccine, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Dunbar’s character on the hit show was unexpectedly written off during the ninth episode of the fifth season following Disney’s decision to not grant the actor a vaccination exemption. As a member of the Church of Universal Wisdom, Dunbar insisted that the studio discriminated against him due to his religious affiliation. On Friday, U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee found that 20th Television may have potentially engaged in discrimination against Dunbar when they declined to allow him a religious exemption from receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. This marks the second time a ruling was made to pave the way for trial regarding a...

Update, 5:34 Pm: Over two years after Rockmond Dunbar filed a lawsuit against 20th Television and Disney over his pink slipping from 9-1-1 out of his insistence on a religious exemption to Covid vaccine mandates on the show, a federal judge today has said the legal battle can go to trial.
Kind of.
“The Court grants the Msj as to all of Dunbar’s claims except the Title VII claim for failure to provide religious accommodations,” said District Judge Dolly Gee today. Specifically, the issues that will proceed to trial are: (1) whether Dunbar had a sincerely held religious belief within the meaning of Title VII; (2) whether Defendants failed to engage in the interactive process; and (3) whether any reasonable accommodations would have actually been available to Dunbar without undue hardship to Defendants.”

20th Television must face a religious discrimination trial for firing Rockmond Dunbar, an original castmember on 911, after he refused to take the Covid-19 vaccine, marking the second ruling to clear the way for trial a lawsuit against a studio over terminations triggered by vaccine mandates amid the pandemic.
U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee found on Friday that 20th may have discriminated against Dunbar for declining to provide him a religious exemption to the vaccine as a follower of the Church of Universal Wisdom. The trial will assess whether he had a sincerely held religious belief within the meaning of civil rights laws that conflicted with the vaccine mandate and if reasonable accommodations could have been offered, allowing him to continue acting on the series without endangering others or causing undue hardship to the studio.

Who’s ready to go back behind bars? In a surprise announcement, Deadline reports that Mayans M.C. co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner Elgin James is developing a new Prison Break project for Hulu. Written and executive-produced by James through his Sierra Drive studio, the revised version marks a new chapter of the incarceration thriller.
Elgin is keeping details about the new Prison Break project in solitary. However, Deadline says, “it is not expected to involve the characters who were at the center of the original series and its followups on Fox.” The original Prison Break debuted in 2005, following Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) as two brothers hatching a plan to escape Fox River State Penitentiary. With Lincoln heading for Death Row, it’s only a matter of time before push comes to shove, and the brothers must enact their plan or face the consequences of their actions.

Apple Studios might have discriminated against Brent Sexton when it pulled an offer for him to star in Manhunt after he refused the Covid-19 vaccine due to potential health complications, a judge has ruled.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Linfield declined Apple’s move to dismiss the lawsuit on free speech grounds, finding that the company’s mandatory vaccination policy may have been unconstitutional. The order issued on Oct. 19 marks one of the few rulings advancing a lawsuit from an actor who took issue with a studio’s refusal to provide accommodations for refusing to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
“There is a significant difference between the government using its police power to require vaccinations and a company implementing a policy that required vaccinations (without any alternative, and of its own volition) as a condition of employment,” stated the order.

What do you get when you combine Pierce Brosnan, Nick Cannon, and some people called Jamie Chung, Hermione Corfield, Rockmond Dunbar, Rami Jaber, and Mike Angelo? A massive flop, apparently. In a way, it's a shame "The Misfits" bombed back in 2021. The film made a meager $1.5 million on a reported budget of $15 million, but despite the abject box office and even worse reviews, it was at least propelled by decent enough intentions.

SAG-AFTRA secretary-treasurer candidate Pete Antico has messaged union members in an attempt to drum up plaintiffs in a potential lawsuit against the labor organization.
Antico, who is aligned with an independent slate of candidates that is challenging Fran Drescher’s Unity ticket, on Thursday sent union members an election campaign message informing them of potential pending litigation against SAG-AFTRA. “Sag-Aftra union members across the country discriminated against and harmed by Sag-Aftra’s Return to Work Agreement are now taking matters into their own hands and are filing a lawsuit against the union to stop the madness,” Antico wrote in the message. ESPN host Sage Steele is exiting the channel after settling her lawsuit with the sports media giant.
“ESPN and Sage Steele have mutually agreed to part ways. We thank her for her many contributions over the years,” an ESPN spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Having successfully settled my case with ESPN/Disney, I have decided to leave so I can exercise my first amendment rights more freely,” Steele shared on X/Twitter. “I am grateful for so many wonderful experiences over the past 16 years and am excited for my next chapter!”
Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Steele, an anchor on SportsCenter and a former host of NBA Countdown, sued ESPN and its owner The Walt Disney Co. last year for allegedly violating her free speech rights in retaliation for widely criticized comments she made on a podcast regarding the company’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate and for comments about former President Barack Obama.

Although SAG-AFTRA’s leading political factions have united around the reelection of President Fran Drescher and Secretary-Treasurer Joely Fisher, they’re not running unopposed in the guild’s upcoming election. Independent candidate Maya Gilbert-Dunbar will face off against Drescher and indie candidate Peter Antico will challenge Fisher, all four of whom have now officially qualified to appear on the ballot.
It’s already been a contentious election, with Drescher exchanging angry emails with Gilbert-Dunbar and Antico, who have accused her of not doing enough to protect the rights of members who refused to be vaccinated during the Covid pandemic, even though she was the leading voice among union leaders against the vaccination mandates.

ABC has defeated a lawsuit from Ingo Rademacher over his dismissal from General Hospital for refusing to get the Covid-19 vaccine.
In December 2021, the actor sued the network, claiming it refused to accommodate his religious objections. In an order granting summary judgment, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephen Goorvitch sided with ABC, which argued that Rademacher’s opposition to the vaccine was grounded in health reasons rather than his religious beliefs. Goorvitch had taken dueling motions under submission after an April 5 hearing and on Monday issued a brief order granting Disney’s and denying Rademacher’s but has not yet issued a detailed ruling.
ABC was among several studios that implemented vaccine mandates. The return-to-work protocols agreed upon by Hollywood’s guilds and studios said that vaccines could be required for those working in “Zone A” of a production — typically a project’s main actors as well as key crewmembers...

There's no show quite like Ryan Murphy's Fox procedural "9-1-1." On the surface, it has a lot in common with other shows about doctors, cops, and firefighters. Each episode sees the crew tackling whatever emergencies come their way that day. But "9-1-1" traffics very heavily in two narrative strategies: metaphor and exaggeration. Many episodes tackle a specific topic, whether it be the idea of superstition or the feeling of being under pressure, and tie everything in that episode to the titular concept.
When "9-1-1" episodes are not tied together in a beautiful thematic bow, they tend to depict the most extreme emergencies imaginable, hence the exaggeration. The Los Angeles depicted in the series has experienced every possible disaster under the sun, including tsunamis, earthquakes, blackouts, cyber-attacks, plane crashes, explosions, sharks on the freeway, and escaped zoo animals. The more extreme, the better. Amazingly enough, many of these events are...

Ryan Murphy's Fox procedural "9-1-1" is billed as a show about heroes. More specifically, the show follows first responders — firefighters, 911 operators, and cops on the front lines of disasters. As such, the audience is always encouraged to root for the main characters as they face danger and emotional devastation to get the job done. That doesn't mean that every character in the show is endlessly lovable, of course. These first responders all have their demons to contend with — demons they must put aside while in the field.
If "9-1-1" were filled with totally unlikable characters, it wouldn't work. This is a show about selfless people who run toward the fire, not away from it. Nonetheless, while every character in the series gives 100 percent to the job, their personal lives are another matter. Some characters deal with their problems better than others, and that's what makes the show interesting. Nobody's perfect,...

Hollywood’s largest studios are backing away from blanket vaccine mandates on some productions. Disney confirmed Nov. 7 that it had informed 12 TV projects that it will no longer require cast and the crew to be vaccinated.
The projects were told vaccines were no longer required for those in “Zone A” — typically the project’s main actors as well as key crewmembers who work closely with them in the highest-risk areas of the set. (A Disney rep says mandates remain in place on U.S.-based film productions.)
Similarly, Netflix has dropped mandatory vaccine mandates on all new and returning shows from previous seasons, say people with knowledge of the matter who were not authorized to speak publicly. Paramount has done the same for some categories of productions since February. Policies allowing producers to mandate vaccinations in Zone A of sets were first implemented...

Disney no longer requires vaccinations for the casts of all of its U.S. productions, as well as those who come into contact with them on set. I hear the majority of Disney-produced series have now lifted the mandate, including ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 and Fox’s 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star. According to sources, a few U.S-based series produced/co-produced by various Disney divisions are keeping the requirement in place, including ABC’s The Rookie and The Rookie: Feds, whose lead studio is eOne.
SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher revealed the development in a TikTok video captioned “@disney pulls the plug on vaccine mandates! Way to go Mickey!!!!”

Disney and 20th Television will no longer have to face a disparate impact claim, which accused them of advancing a vaccination policy discriminating against followers of the Church of Universal Wisdom, according to an order issued on Friday. A federal judge has whittled down a lawsuit from Rockmond Dunbar, an original castmember on 911, accusing Disney and 20th Television of religious and racial discrimination for ousting him from the hit drama series after his requests for a Covid-19 vaccine exemption were denied. According to an order issued on Monday dismissing a trio of claims, Dunbar didn’t offer enough evidence that Disney’s vaccination policy discriminates against certain religious groups.
Disney and Fox were among the majority of studios that instituted a vaccine mandate for cast in addition to crewmembers who are in close proximity to them. The requirement led to numerous lawsuits from actors and staff who took issue with the studios refusing their exemption requests.

Two former General Hospital crewmembers, James and Timothy Wahl, are suing ABC after getting fired for refusing the Covid-19 vaccination in a lawsuit that portrays efforts to curb the spread of the virus as “unprecedented restrictions on liberty.” They’re being represented by the same attorneys who filed an identical suit on behalf of actor Ingo Rademacher, who was also dismissed over his refusal to get vaccinated.
“These actions were unlawful. ABC does not have the authority to force a medical treatment on its employees against their will,” reads the complaint filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. “Even if it did, it must offer religious exemptions to anybody who requests one. It cannot discriminate among religions and cannot second-guess the sincerity of one’s religious beliefs without an objective basis for doing so. It did not have one here. ABC’s actions...
