Officer Walter Clark's story has been cut short. CBS has cancelled Golden Boy after one season and 13 episodes.
Airing on Tuesday nights, Golden Boy tells the tale of a young and ambitious New York cop (Theo James) who rises quickly through the department's ranks to become the youngest Police Commissioner in NYC history. The cast also includes Chi McBride, Kevin Alejandro, Bonnie Somerville, Holt McCallany, and Stella Maeve.
The network was hoping that Golden Boy would perform better than Vegas -- and for awhile, it looked like it might. Unfortunately, Golden Boy's ratings ended up being pretty bad, particularly in the 18-49 demographic.
The episodes that have aired so far have averaged a 1.4 in the demo with 8.3 million total viewers. It's one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.

It's no secret that days on production sets often drag into nights, causing some actors to grouse.
However, those who have had jobs that make muscles ache by shift's end know to keep actors' woes in perspective.
Theo James, 28, is among those with perspective. He paid his dues as a guy who got dirty before he became an actor.
"I was a laborer for two seasons, and it killed me," James tells Zap2it. "They were making an office site. I had to make holes, and they said, 'Listen, mate, you need to dig up those sections with a shovel.' Eight of us were sitting around with saws and no masks. And they said, 'Yeah, that's asbestos. Bury it.' "
James was a bartender and a lifeguard and had an unsettling stint with the National Health Service in his native England. For that job, he went to the homes...

Update: Miles Teller has confirmed his participation on Twitter. Still no word on which role he'll play though. After looking at vaguely recognizable young hunks like Alex Pettyfer and Lucas Till, Summit Entertainment has finally settled on up-and-comer Theo James for the lead male role in Divergent, their upcoming young-adult novel adaptation. James, an English actor who put in a lot of bit work in the likes of Underworld: Awakening and even Downton Abbey, recently broke out as the star of CBS's new drama Golden Boy, playing the ambitious lead character Walter Clark. In Divergent he'll play Four, one of the leaders of the "Dauntless" faction, which our heroine Beatrice (Shailene Woodley) joins once she's decided she no longer fits in with the faction she was born into. Like another wildly successful young adult adaptation produced by Summit's parent company Lionsgate, Divergent takes place in a dystopian future after the...

Whether he’s playing a stoic cop on Southland, the Dad to gay teen Justin on Ugly Betty or the sexy ‘brujo,’ Jesus on True Blood, it’s hard to take your eyes off Kevin Alejandro. Besides his natural, masculine sexiness, Alejandro is also the kind of actor whose conviction to the craft pulls viewers into whatever he is doing onscreen.
There’s only one problem with Alejandro’s work in some of our favorite TV series – he tends to get killed off, which isn’t a good thing for fans of the Texas native.
Alejandro’s latest role is a bit of a departure for him since he’s not playing the good guy this time around but, instead, a disgruntled detective on CBS’s new procedural drama Golden Boy. When young Walter Clark (played by Theo James of Downton Abbey and Bedlam) comes into a New York precinct and takes the limelight,...
