Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia (TV's "Human Target," "Charlie's Angels") are set to pen the upcoming film adaptation of the "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon" video game series setup at Ubisoft Motion Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures.
The story revolves around a fictional unit of the U.S. Army Special Forces that effectively operates as the president’s private army. Equipped with the latest technology, they take down threats around the world without leaving any trace of their existence.
Michael Bay is producing and could potentially direct the project as he has yet to commit to helm anything beyond the currently shooting "Transformers: Age of Extinction".
Federman and Scaia are currently finishing the script on for the long-gestating film adaptation of the acclaimed comic series "Y: The Last Man," and penned a reboot of the "Zorro" franchise at Sony.

Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, is teetering between two different 'Phases': Phase 1 was Iron Man 1 and 2, The Incredible Hulk, Cap', Thor and The Avengers. Phase 2 is Cap' 2, Thor The Dark World, Iron Man 3, Guardians Of The Galaxy and Avengers 2. But, without giving away too many details, what can we expect?"Guardians and Thor will take the brunt of the cosmic side of the universe, particularly Guardians, which is 95% in space," Feige tells SFX. "I think Iron Man 3 shows the other side of Phase 2, which is delving deeper into the characters. Throwing them on a much more personal journey."What’s exciting to me about Cap' [2] – sort of about Iron Man 3 too if you look at it – is it’s tonally almost like a different genre. Shane Black’s described Iron Man 3 as a Tom Clancy sort of political thriller, which I like a lot.

It’s been four years since Marvel busted onto the movie scene controlling its own purse strings with Jon Favreau's excellent Iron Man (May 2008), and after releasing the likes of The Incredible Hulk (June ’08), Iron Man 2 (May ’10), Thor (May ’11), and Captain America: The First Avenger (July ’11), it’s ready for the giant, half-decade-long payoff that is The Avengers (May 4, 2012) to hit theaters.
And we’re ready, too. Brant Fowler, the chief operating officer of Comic Related, Rob Keyes, editor at Screen Rant, and Patrick Sauriol, the editor-in-chief of Coming Attractions, all sat down with freelancer Marc N. Kleinhenz to chat about the quality of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, and... James Cameron doing an Avengers spinoff?

Marc N. Kleinhenz:
A little pre-game question first: how effective have the previous five Marvel films been in prepping the stage for the mega-event that is The Avengers?...

It’s been a while since a Media Tidbits, so there is a lot to cover:
When reality enters into movies, studios are faced with difficult choices. The Trayvon Martin incident in Florida is focusing an uncomfortable light into 20th Century Fox’s upcoming July release, Neighborhood Watch. The film’s teaser, which the studios describe as “a broad alien-invasion comedy and bears absolutely no relation to the tragic events in Florida,” features stars Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade attack the block with intimidating stares while Hill makes finger-guns and later manhandles a hoodie-clad teen. This most striking parallel forced Fox to pull both the teaser posters and trailer from Florida altogether, noting they are “very sensitive to the Trayvon Martin case.” The studio announced they plan to move into the next phase of their marketing of the film, but intend to keep the July 27th release date,...

A 1999 demo promoting the ruinously expensive Shenmue (called “What’s Shenmue?”) featured an exclusive scene in which then company president Yukawa-san could be seen slumped at his desk, head in hands, surrounded by piles of unsold consoles (above). Deep down, Sega must have known the Dreamcast didn’t stand a chance even before they axed it two years later.
Even though the Sega Dreamcast enjoyed a relatively short lifespan (officially somewhere between its 1998 Japanese launch and late 2002 termination) and wasn’t supported at all by the most powerful publisher of the day (Electronic Arts) the well-loved machine still boasts an impressive library of titles.
Even extending this “best of” list, from the originally planned 10 to a whopping 30 games, has seen me leave out such gems as cult top-down shooter Ikaruga, well-regarded sports sim NHL 2K2, online deathmatch game Outtrigger, stylish BioWare-made shooter MDK2 and Street Fighter III: Double Impact (to...

Its that time of year again and the old saying “and the award goes too…” will be ringing throughout Hollywood and the movie blogs. Its Oscar time and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the official nominees this morning live from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. This is the first year the Oscars will feature an expanded field of 10 nominees for the coveted Best Picture category making for a very interesting race to see what the industry thinks is the best film of the year. I think its exciting and for the first time ever I am looking forward to the Oscars because of that. Films like Up and District 9 made the list, which weren’t surprises, but one that I am glad also made it was Inglourious Basterds, a worthy contender in my mind.

St. Trinian's II: The Legend of Fritton's Gold
Opens: 2010
Cast: Colin Firth, Rupert Everett, David Tennant, Gemma Arterton, Talulah Riley
Director: Oliver Parker, Barnaby Thompson
Summary: A rollercoaster-style treasure hunt for the legendary Fritton’s Gold ensues as the feisty and ever-resourceful schoolgirls of St Trinian’s face their most fearsome establishment rivals yet - the villainous Pomfrey and his sidekicks from the women-hating secret society known as AD1.
Analysis: While it didn't travel much beyond the UK, 2007's reboot of the "St Trinian's" franchise nearly doubled its £7 million production budget in sales in the UK alone - making it one of the top grossing independent British films of the past decade. Reviews were decidedly mixed but generally pretty weak at the time, so the greenlighting of a sequel surprised quite a few.
Despite a critical drubbing, the core audience of young British teenage girls seemed to be satisfied by...
