- In 1965, he and his rock band, The Wild Ones, were the first to record the rock standard "Wild Thing", written by Chip Taylor, the brother of actor Jon Voight. As a discotheque band named The Wild Ones, "Wild Thing" was intended to be their signature song. A year later, it became a multi-million seller for The Troggs. The song was also adopted by Jimi Hendrix.
