Marvel’s upcoming WandaVision spin-off starring Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness finally has an official title—for real this time—and a release date on Disney+.
The Agatha series has been through several titles over the years, including Agatha: House of Harkness, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and Agatha: The Lying Witch with Great Wardrobe. It turns out those constant title changes were the result of the titular pesky witch, and the actual title was unveiled during Disney’s 2024 Upfront Presentation: Agatha All Along. The first two episodes of the series will debut on Disney+ on September 18th.

The fitting title takes its name from the viral ear-worm song featuring in WandaVision from composers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Admit it, you’re humming it right now.

Agatha made her debut in the Disney+ series ‘WandaVision’ as the nosy neighbor-turned-powerful witch who attempted to steal Wanda’s powers. Following her defeat in the series, Agatha is left powerless and trapped in her mundane persona, a fate likely to be explored in the first episode of her own show. In the comics, Agatha is depicted as one of the most formidable magic users in the Marvel Universe, establishing a significant connection between the characters.
Given Agatha’s compelling presence in ‘WandaVision,’ it was a natural choice for her to receive her own spinoff series. With the release date of ‘Agatha’ drawing nearer, here’s a summary of everything we know about the upcoming show.
Agatha embarks on a journey to reclaim her lost powers

Agatha debuted in the Disney+ series ‘WandaWision,’ as the nosy neighbour-turned-powerful witch who tried to steal Wanda’s powers. By the end of the show, Agatha is defeated and trapped in her noisy neighbor persona, left powerless, which will obviously translate to the first episode of the show. The two characters share a connection from the comics, with Agatha being one of the most powerful magic users in the Marvel Comics Universe.
It wasn’t surprising when it was decided that Agatha would get her own show, the first spinoff derived from ‘WandaVision.’ Now since the release date for ‘Agatha’ is getting closer we decided to summarize everything we know about the show.

When Marvel Studios first announced its WandaVision sequel, it was titled Agatha: House of Harkness. It then switched to Agatha: Coven of Chaos before becoming Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
Along the way, we've also seen evidence that it could be named Agatha All Along, Agatha: The Witches' Road, and Agnes of Westview, with the prevailing theory being that these are all episode titles and not the official final name of the Disney+ series.
Moments ago, Marvel Studios added another name to the mix by posting a logo to X which features Agatha: The Lying Witch with Great Wardrobe.
That's one heck of a title, eh?
We'll see if this one sticks, but it's worth noting that as we write this, the studio has already removed the Tweet/X post in question. It's hard to believe this was sent out by mistake and the more likely possibility is it's yet another part...

With X-Men '97 in full swing on Disney+ and Deadpool & Wolverine fast approaching, will Marvel Studios soon pull back the curtain on WandaVision follow-up, Agatha?
That's the prevailing theory because the profile picture on WandaVision's social media accounts has just been updated with a splash of familiar purple. It doesn't give us much to go on, though we'd say there has to be some significance to this when Agatha Harkness remains trapped in Westview thanks to the Scarlet Witch!
We'd caution against getting too excited about an imminent reveal because it's previously been reported that Agatha is aiming for a September launch. Disney+ has also developed a frustrating habit of promising its MCU offerings surprisingly close to their respective premieres.
Despite it feeling like we've been waiting a long time for the series, things appear to be going well for a spin-off which has previously been dubbed "Agnes of Westview,...

In a People interview, Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Emma Caulfield Ford, who played the demon Anya on the TV series, updated her health and detailed her Ms battle, which she kept quiet for more than a decade.
The report indicates Caulfield Ford’s symptoms have been extremely mild, and she doesn’t take medication. She has acute sensitivity to heat and stress, but severe symptoms such as fatigue, muscle weakness, and lesions have not manifested.
“I’m very, very fortunate,” Caulfield Ford, 50, told People. “But I’m also aware that, with Ms, this could all change tomorrow. I’m stable — and I’ve made it a huge priority to do things so I stay that way.”
Ms affects an estimated 1 million Americans. Caulfield Ford received her diagnosis on the autoimmune disease in 2010 after finding the left side of her face had gone numb.

More than a dozen years after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis — and a year after going public with that diagnosis — Emma Caulfield Ford says that she’s been “very, very fortunate” so far with her experience with the disease. Caulfield Ford’s Ms symptoms have been very mild, with occasional sensitivity to heat, stress, and noise, but none of the debilitating flareups other people living with Ms experience, as she told People in a recent interview. “But I’m also aware that, with Ms, this could all change tomorrow,” she added. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis — the same disease her late father had — in the summer of 2010 as she filmed the TV series Gigantic. Ms is a chronic disease in which the myelin — the fatty tissue protecting nerve fibers — is destroyed and lesions of scar tissue form in its place, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.

In a year of reduced Marvel output, there are still a lot of interesting comic book adaptations emerging in 2024 from both Sony and Marvel Studios. Kathryn Hahn is reprising her role of Agatha Harkness in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries on Disney+.
With the Blu-Ray release of WandaVision, Marvel Studios snuck a little preview of the spinoff where Hahn and creators tease the making of the series.
Jac Schaeffer, head writer and executive producer, said she talked to Marvel about developing something else and revealed that everything that she pitched “included a storyline about Agatha.”
“I remember Kevin [Feige] saying to me, ‘We really should think about an actual Agatha show,’ and I was like, ‘Where do I sign for that job?'” Schaeffer recalled.
“The character is so deep and heartfelt and dangerous,” co-executive producer Mary Livanos said. “Continuing the story of Agatha and getting to know her more was immediately an imperative for us as creatives. There would be nothing more delicious to Agatha Harkness than to be in a spinoff.”

The cast of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is ready to reclaim the narrative. Through the new Audible original, “Slayers: A Buffyverse Story,” several actors from the acclaimed drama series are back together to play their beloved characters once again — this time in an audio original podcast.
“Slayers” is co-written by Amber Benson, who portrayed Tara in “Buffy,” and Christopher Golden, who has penned multiple books in the “Buffyverse.” Before the Covid pandemic, Benson began calling her former costars to see who might want to be involved, focusing on the characters she felt weren’t serviced enough in the original show. She also wanted to find a way to highlight what it means to be a slayer who is also a woman of color.
That’s where Laya DeLeon Hayes came in, portraying 16-year-old Slayer Indira Nunnally in the new series, which takes place in 2013, 10 years after “Buffy” ended. James Marsters returns as Spike,...

Twenty years after audiences watched Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) slay her last demon, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is set to return with a multiverse-style sequel. The new story won't be a TV show, but an audio series called "Slayers: A Buffyverse Story" -- a format switch that, while perhaps less common than a straightforward revival series, has been done successfully before by at least one other big fandom genre show, "Orphan Black."
There are a lot of reasons worth getting excited about "Slayers." Eight original series cast members are returning for the new project, including Emma Caulfield Ford (Anya), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia), Anthony Head (Giles), James Marsters (Spike), and more. Amber Benson is also returning despite her character Tara's controversial death in season 6 of the original show -- apparently the new series will play with alternate realities, allowing her character's reappearance. Plus, "Slayers" seems to be listening to...

With the long-gestating Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV reboot on indefinite hold, fans of the cult vampire drama are getting an audio offshoot, Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, centered around James Marsters’ character Spike. A number of other original cast members, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield Ford, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary, Danny Strong, will also make a return for the Audible series, which will premiere Oct. 12.
The original series’ titular star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who has ruled out an involvement in the potential Buffy reboot, is not part of Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, which is set in an alternate reality where Buffy Summers never existed.

The original cast members of the series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” are returning for an Audible original story, “Slayers: A Buffyverse Story,” set in the same world as the original show. The new story will focus on Spike (James Marsters) as the protagonist and premieres Oct. 12.
In addition to Marsters, returning cast members include Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield Ford, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary and Danny Strong.
The scripted original picks up 10 years after the events of the 2003 finale. Calling all Scoobies — it's time to return to Sunnydale and catch up with all of our favorite demon-fighting, vampire-slaying heroes. Audible is releasing a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" original audio story set 10 years after the finale of the beloved television series with a number of the original cast members reprising their roles. The series had previously been continued in Dark Horse's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" comics, though those aren't considered to be canon by many, and this new audio original could be the first canon entry in the Buffyverse for two decades.
"Slayers: A Buffyverse Story" was written by original cast member Amber Benson, who played witchy Tara, along with horror writer Christopher Golden, who authored numerous "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" novels, so fans should have no concerns about the audio original's authenticity. On top of having a stellar writing duo behind the tale, "Slayers" will feature quite a...

More changes are on the horizon for Disney+'s slate of series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Agatha Harkness spinoff of WandaVision has been postponed to late 2024.
The series, which wrapped production earlier this year, finds Kathryn Hahn reprising the role she played on WandaVision Season 1.
In addition to the delay, the series has also been given a new title... Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
The series has also been called Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Agatha: House of Harkness.
Hopefully, the third time's the charm, and this title sticks.
It is unfortunate that we'll be waiting much longer than planned for the series, but there's a good chance the delay is in response to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries also stars Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), Sasheer Zamata (SNL), Joe Locke (Heartstopper), Patti LuPone (American Horror Story), Emma Caulfield Ford,...

Uh-oh… has someone put a hex on Disney+’s Agatha-centered WandaVision spinoff?
The spinoff, with Kathryn Hahn reprising her WandaVision role as the witchy villainess, was originally supposed to debut later this year, but it has now been delayed until early fall 2024, timed to the Halloween season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. (A source has confirmed the news to TVLine.) For those of you who are keeping score at home, it’s also now on its third title: Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, replacing the previous title Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which in turn replaced the original Agatha: House of Harkness.

Kathryn Hahn is back as the bewitching villain Agatha Harkness in the upcoming Disney+ series “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” – formerly titled “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” – and THR reports tonight that the series will be haunting Disney+ late next year.
“Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” is coming to Disney+ on the road to Halloween 2024.
Tony-winner Patti LuPone joins the previously announced Aubrey Plaza (Child’s Play) and Joe Locke (Heartstopper), as well as Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, and Sasheer Zamata.
Emma Caulfield Ford (“Wandavision”) will also be back as the character Dottie.
Jac Schaeffer (“WandaVision”) is on board the series as writer/exec producer.
Plot details for the spinoff project are under wraps at the moment, so it’s unclear if the series will pick up following the events of “WandaVision.” In the finale’s big final battle, Wanda of course defeated Agatha Harkness, trapping her in the town of Westview.

Sasheer Zamata is opening up about her role in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, the WandaVision spinoff on Disney+.
The Saturday Night Live alum said that getting cast in the Marvel series was fitting as she touches on witches in her comedy special The First Woman.
“I had already written material for [The First Woman] before I went through the audition process,” Zamata told Mashable in an interview pre-strike. “It felt magical that I got to be in a show about witches. I talk about it so much in my special.”
Zamata will be portraying Jennifer Kale, a sorceress in the MCU world and ahead of getting the part, she did her research but teases that the character has been transformed for the adaptation.
“I definitely did do as much [comic book] research as I could,” she said. “But the way we formed this character is very different from what I think people expect.”

Patti LuPone has joined the MCU in the WandaVision spinoff Agatha: Coven of Chaos. However, before embarking on this new adventure, the Broadway legend had no idea about the universe she was coming into.
“And I’m still not,” LuPone tells EW with a laugh. “I’m still not familiar with it. I had to watch WandaVision twice to figure it out.”
LuPone is set to play the role of Lili Calderu and is enjoying her time on the show adding, “I’m having a blast. It’s a wonderful group of women, plus a phenomenal crew. I mean, the design on this piece is extraordinary. Jac Schaeffer is so talented, she’s the creator of WandaVision and now Coven of Chaos, and it’s an extraordinary cast of women.”

Now that “Tiny Beautiful Things” is streaming on Hulu, the Kathryn Hahn hive can look forward to seeing the actress in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again in the upcoming TV show “Agatha: Coven of Chaos.”
The new Disney+ series is a spin-off of Marvel Studios’ first TV show, “WandaVision.” That series starred Elizabeth Olsen and told more of Wanda’s backstory as she wove together a complex web of magic in the fake town of Westview, New Jersey to cope with her intense grief of losing Vision (Paul Bettany). Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) was introduced in Westview as Agnes, Wanda’s friendly neighbor, but by the end of the season, we discovered Agnes was actually a powerful witch who wanted Wanda to attain her full power potential (it was Agatha all along).

Agatha: Coven of Chaos: Patti LuPone conjures secrets about her bewitching Marvel character and more
Double double toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble, Patti LuPone is conjuring secrets about Marvel’s WandaVision spinoff, Agatha: Coven of Chaos. I know that didn’t rhyme. You’ll get over it, I promise. On Tuesday’s episode of The View (via Entertainment Weekly), LuPone revealed she’s playing Lilia Calderu for the upcoming series, also starring Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza.
“It’s a coven of witches, and I play Lilia Calderu, who apparently is in the Marvel world. I researched her. She’s hot. She’s really hot. She’s got a great body and hair,” LuPone told Alyssa Farah Griffin about her character. “I didn’t know there were witches,” LuPone said about exploring the Marvel Universe. “I didn’t know anything about the Marvel world. To many Buffy, the Vampire Slayer fans, season 6 was a letdown. After Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) sacrificed herself to defeat Glory at the end of season 5, her return left some fans wanting. The show also moved from The WB to Upn for season 6 and 7, but even decades later, fans still criticize season 6.

Many female actors have, over the years, been labeled difficult on set because they stand up for themselves. The issue was even more rampant in the ’90s. And Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar can attest to that. According to her co-star on the series, the star was once called a b**** on set.

Sarah Michelle Gellar will always be Buffy Summers to many, and while she’s proud of the show and its legacy, she would rather Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s legacy not be tainted by Joss Whedon. Whedon has been under serious scrutiny over the past few years for allegations of on-set harassment and hosting unprofessional workplace environments.
In a recent Hollywood Reporter profile, Sarah Michelle Gellar said, “I’ve come to a good place with it, where it’s easier to talk about…I’ll never tell my full story because I don’t get anything out of it. I’ve said all I’m going to say because nobody wins. Sarah Michelle Gellar has spoken to The Hollywood Reporter about those claims suggesting creator Joss Whedon made the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” set a “toxic” environment.
Star of the show Charisma Carpenter was among the first to make allegations about Whedon’s alleged behaviour back in early 2021.
Gellar previously insisted “While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon,” adding that she wouldn’t be making any further statements about it at that time.

From the very beginning, Buffy Summers knew the dangers of being a Slayer. Like it or not, she would spend the rest of her life looking over her shoulder, always ready for the next attack from the forces of darkness. But if she abdicated her role, then who would protect humanity from the monsters spewing from the Hellmouth?
Although it didn’t involve demons from a nether realm and certainly wasn’t a matter of fate, Sarah Michelle Gellar found herself thrust into a similar situation while filming Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At only 17 years old when shooting of the pilot began, Gellar came to the show as the youngest of the main cast. And yet, thanks to the decade-plus on-set experience she had already garnered and her natural resolve, Gellar became the one to call for a halt when her fellow actors needed a break.

Kathryn Hahn is reprising her WandaVision role in the Disney+ spinoff series Agatha: Coven of Chaos and is teasing that there could be “a little song here or there.”

Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get underway this year with the release of three new tentpole films and twice as many Disney+ shows. Bringing up the rear on the TV side of things is "Agatha: Coven of Chaos," which rolls cameras in Atlanta next week and is due for a late 2023 release
Ahead of its production start, "Agatha: Coven of Chaos" (formerly titled "Agatha: House of Harkness") has now locked in its directors, according The Hollywood Reporter.
A spin-off of Marvel's very first Disney+ series, "WandaVision," "Agatha: Coven of Chaos" centers on Kathryn Hahn's character, Agatha Harkness, who spent much of her previous screen time disguising herself as Wanda's nosy neighbor, Agnes. It was only toward the end of the seventh episode of "WandaVision" that viewers learned Agnes/Agatha's true witchy nature, to the tune of the Emmy-winning, retro-sitcom jingle "Agatha All Along.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos has recruited a familiar face: Debra Jo Rupp, who appeared in multiple episodes of WandaVision, has joined the Disney+/Marvel spinoff series, our sister site Deadline reports.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos will see Kathryn Hahn reprising her WandaVision role as nosy neighbor-turned-evil witch Agatha Harkness. (The role earned Hahn an Emmy nomination last year.) In WandaVision‘s season finale, Agatha lost the battle to absorb Wanda’s magic, and Wanda indefinitely trapped Agatha in her nosy neighbor “Agnes” persona.

Marvel obviously struck gold with the revelation that it was Agatha all along, meddling in Wanda Maximoff's idyllic sitcom-inspired suburbia. Not only did that "WandaVision" plot twist gift the masses with an incredibly catchy tune (all it takes to get this song playing on an endless loop in my head is simply remembering that it exists), but we're also getting an entire Disney+ series out of it, with Kathryn Hahn reprising her role as the witch, presumably with a brand new set of magic users to thwart. Prepare for another deep-dive into the dark magic of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, courtesy of "Agatha: Coven of Chaos," the upcoming series that likely sees Agatha getting back in touch with her witchy origins. But that might be easier said than done.

Exclusive: That ’70s Show and That ’90s Show star Debra Jo Rupp has been added to Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Disney+/Marvel WandaVision spinoff series headlined by Kathryn Hahn, sources tell Deadline.
In addition to Hahn, who is reprising her WandaVision role as bad gal Agatha Harkness, Rupp joins male lead Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Sasheer Zamata and Patti LuPone. Emma Caulfield Ford also is said to be reprising her character of Dottie from WandaVision.
No details about Rupp’s role are revealed but it’s safe to assume that she may be reprising her WandaVision role as Mrs. Hart, which she played in five episodes of the original series. A rep for Marvel declined comment.
WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer serves as writer and executive producer on the spinoff.
Rupp is best known for her role as beloved mom Kitty Forman on the long-running sitcom That 70s Show.

We are living in an age of TV show revivals. By the end of this month, Night Court will even be back on the air. But don’t get your hopes up for a revival of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that would bring Sarah Michelle Gellar back in the title role. While speaking with SFX Magazine (via Movieweb), Gellar said she wouldn’t want to play Buffy ever again.
When asked if she’s interested in reprising the role, Gellar answered, “I’m not. I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn’t need to be done. We wrapped that up. I am all for them continuing the story, because there’s the story of female empowerment. I love the way the show was left: ‘Every girl who has the power can have the power.’ It’s set up perfectly for someone else to have the power.
