There’s No Such Thing as Zombies isn’t so much a comedy about the zombie apocalypse as it is the story of three people, Carlotta, her husband Paul and his old school friend Colin.
When Colin’s bragging gets on Paul’s last nerve, Carlotta gives him a “vitamin” which Colin recognizes as Troxidil, a powerful antidepressant that also doubles as male birth control by decreasing sperm count. This really doesn’t sit well with Paul, not only was he being lied to, he was being prevented from starting the family he wanted.
At this point, we cut away to The Hunt and Christina Show, whose hosts are also talking about Troxidil, specifically allegations that it causes the dead to rise. They’ll soon be joined by Victoria Winkelhauser a...

Origins is a recurring series that gives artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Low Cut Connie runs through his latest single, “Sleaze Me On.”
Philadelphia rocker Low Cut Connie has released “Sleaze Me On,” the latest single from his upcoming album, Art Dealers. Taking a gender-bending perspective and telling the story of a less-than-ideal love, “Sleaze Me On” is yet another fusion of classic rock ‘n’ roll stylings and contemporary indie from Adam Weiner’s piano-rock project.
After an electric piano and a country-rock guitar introduce the song, a groovy rhythm section and Weiner’s attitude-laden vocals ramp up the tune’s swagger to levels previously unreached by man. It’s no wonder, then, that Weiner cites artists like Prince and The Rolling Stones as primary influences.

Anne Rice’s biggest claim to fame will always be “Interview With the Vampire” and the ensuing Vampire Chronicles. However, most casual horror fans don’t know that her impressive catalog also features a multigenerational saga about a family of witches. Beginning with “The Witching Hour,” Rice wrote a trilogy of novels following a matrilineal line of magical women. AMC’s Mayfair Witches brings this saga to the fore with a star-studded adaptation of Rice’s dense source material. Alexandra Daddario stars as Rowan Fielding, a California brain surgeon and the 13th Mayfair witch who was whisked away at birth and knows nothing of her family’s occult history. Annabeth Gish is her mother Dierdre, an unfortunate prisoner in the family’s New Orleans home, and Jack Huston is the mysterious Lasher, a demonic presence haunting the women of the Mayfair line.

Mayfair Witches Season 1 Episode 5, “The Thrall,” changed everything for Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) and Ciprien (Tongayi Chirisa). Lasher (Jack Huston) trapped them in a Groundhog Day-style time loop designed to make them forget Cip was dying from a fatal stab wound inflicted by Carlotta (Beth Grant). But they caught wise, and Rowan was able to barter for Cip’s safe departure from the house where he could get supernatural medical aid from Talamasca colleagues. Chirisa tells TV Insider that this dangerous adventure has brought Cip and Rowan together for good. “Oh, it’s huge,” he tells us of Episode 5’s impact moving forward, adding with a laugh, “This is a psychological damage right here.” “Issues of the heart are so complicated already, and everyone is doing it from a place of love,” he says. “When we do things from a place of love, where we don’t understand that our actions...

Lasher (Jack Huston) has been the overarching enemy of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches since its premiere on AMC and AMC+ last month.
Sunday's new episode found Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) and Ciprien (Tongayi Chirisa) trapped in the Mayfair house following the events of Mayfair Witches Season 1 Episode 4.
What started as a tranquil hour quickly shifted when Rowan and Ciprien realized they didn't recall what happened after Ciprien was stabbed.
TV Fanatic got to speak to Huston about his role in the series, and the actor revealed that he loved how enigmatic Lasher is.
"That's what I loved about it is that you were given only so much, and he's sort of shrouded in mystery," he told TV Fanatic.
Jack said he felt similar to viewers in that he yearned to learn more about Lasher as the scripts came in.

The only surprising thing about AMC’s announcement was that it took so long to confirm Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches has been renewed for season two. The popular supernatural series has been a hit on both AMC and AMC+, and its first season is now the most viewed on AMC+ over its first 30 days (per AMC Networks). That’s pretty impressive when you consider it was up against the final season of The Walking Dead.
Season one, which currently airs on Sundays at 9pm Et/Pt, is ranked in the top 10 cable dramas of 2022-2023. Filming on season two is expected to kick off later this year in New Orleans.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Mayfair Witches Episode 4, “Curiouser and Curiouser.”] Carlotta Mayfair is easy to despise. The Mayfair sibling’s religious fanaticism convinced her that abusing her sisters and niece Dierdre was not only acceptable, but necessary. But her controlling (to say the least) nature came to a head in Mayfair Witches Episode 4, which premiered Sunday, January 29 on AMC. After seeing Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) embrace Lasher’s necklace, Carlotta decided killing her was the only way to keep the family safe. The attempt failed, and the episode ended with Lasher (Jack Huston) coming for his revenge against the zealot. Suffice it to say, things are looking grim for Beth Grant‘s Carlotta. Grant sees a straight through line between Carlotta’s childhood and her choices as an adult. And perhaps surprisingly (based on Carlotta’s extremism alone), Grant thinks much of her behavior is driven by repressed sexuality and the feelings of shame that come with it.

AMC is building a franchise out of the Vampire Chronicles novels written by Anne Rice, a franchise that began with the first season of their Interview with the Vampire series. Last Sunday, they started airing a series based on Rice’s Mayfair Witches novels – a series appropriately titled Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches (read our review Here). And during an AMC panel at a recent Critics Association presentation, executive producers of these shows revealed that they won’t be entirely separate. Viewers will see crossovers between Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches… which makes sense, since the Vampire Chronicles stories did become entwined with the Mayfair Witches series as they went on.
Esta Spaulding and Michelle Ashford, both of whom previously worked on Masters of Sex, are writers and executive producers on Mayfair Witches, and during the AMC panel Spaulding said there is one character who appears in both series already.

Anne Rice is known for her vampires. Her 1976 novel Interview with the Vampire is considered a seminal text on the undead world thanks in large part to a progressive 1994 adaptation starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. What many casual fans may not know is that Rice is also well-versed in the world of witchcraft. Published in 1990, her novel The Witching Hour is the first of a trilogy following the Mayfair Witches, a powerful family of New Orleans spellcasters.
After acquiring the rights to Rice’s entire catalog in 2020, AMC released an ambitious reimagining of her most famous text. Though it flew mostly under the radar, Interview With the Vampire premiered to positive reviews and has been praised for its exploration of race and sexuality while drawing viewers in with a campy tone. The network’s followup series, Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches stars Alexandra Daddario as a lost Mayfair daughter...

On first impression, AMC’s Mayfair Witches appears as lush as the overgrown yard of the New Orleans bungalow where much of it takes place.
The plot, adapted from Anne Rice’s novels, centers on a preternaturally gifted surgeon named Rowan (The White Lotus‘ Alexandra Daddario) who discovers she’s heir to a dynasty of women with special powers. As she explores her family tree, each gnarled root seems to branch off into knottier tangles still — ultimately yielding a saga laden with sex, death and magic, spanning hundreds of years and thousands of miles.
But amid that sordid lore, creators Michelle Ashford (Masters of Sex) and Esta Spalding (On Becoming a God in Central Florida) make the fatal mistake of prioritizing mythology and mystery over personality and plot. As a result, while there’s a great deal happening onscreen at every turn — secrets to uncover, murders to solve, dances to...

Plot: Based on Rice’s best-selling trilogy, “Lives of the Mayfair Witches,” the 8-episode series focuses on an intuitive young neurosurgeon, Rowan (Daddario), who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.
Review: In October 2022, Anne Rice’s most famous novel, Interview with the Vampire, was reimagined as a television series. I found the updates and changes to the classic story, adapted once before starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, to be far more faithful to Rice’s books and a great introduction to adapting her extensive Vampire Chronicles series. Now, another one of Rice’s series, which crosses over with the Vampire Chronicles, is getting its turn on AMC. Mayfair Witches, based on a trilogy of books, is the second installment in what AMC...

Set in the early 1900s in the Wild West, The Last Manhunt tells the true story of Willie Boy. He falls in love with Carlotta, a young girl from the Chemehuevi tribe, but they are forbidden from being together by Carlotta’s father. Mainei Kinimaka, who plays Carlotta, recently sat down for an exclusive with uInterview founder Erik Meers to discuss what it was like working with her cousin, Aquaman‘s Jason Momoa on the film.
“Jason has mentored me in acting since I was about 19,” Kinimaka said. “Jason’s done a lot as far as effort to try to bring up the indigenous community with young actors and young filmmakers so at the time, I was one of the people that he was training, kind of like a protégé. I was...

Slamdance announced the winners of its 2022 screenplay competition, with the grand prize going to writer Gabriel Malasig for his screenplay titled “American Retail.” The screenplay follows a Black woman as she struggles to supplement her music career through a dead-end retail job at a superstore.
Additional prizes were awarded during a live ceremony that took place at the Nuart Theatre and co-presented by the Writers Guild of America West and Landmark Theatres on Sunday. Slamdance recognizes writers in its feature film, horror/thriller, TV pilot, short film and mentorship categories. More than 18,000 in prizes, in addition to various industry services, are awarded to winners across all categories.
“We received over 4,200 screenplay submissions this year,” said festival manager Lily Yasuda. “Our readers were blown away by the quality of scripts this year, and our winners exemplify everything we look for in a screenplay: bold, original and unafraid to tackle complex social issues head-on.

"You got a reckoning coming ..." in the form of a new Jason Momoa movie. No, it's not "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," and in all honesty, who even knows when that movie is coming out anymore. It was supposed to hit theaters this year, but is currently lost at sea until December 2023. However, just in time for the series finale of Momoa's three-season Apple TV+ series, "See" — which drops next week — Saban Films has released a trailer for a Momoa movie set on dry land, the upcoming Western, "The Last Manhunt," directed by and co-starring Momoa's "See" castmate, Christian Camargo.
"The Last Outlaw" is based on a true story which, according to Variety, comes from oral tradition of the Chemehuevi tribe, an indigenous people of the Great Basin region of the United States. The trailer, which you can see below, promises "a band of ruthless lawmen on the greatest manhunt in American history.

“Are you frightened of you?” Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) is asked by Cortland Mayfair (Harry Hamlin), her family patriarch, and the question is valid. The “13th Witch” of Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches novel series is one of the most unapologetic portrayals of abuse of dark powers in literature. The first trailer from AMC’s Mayfair Witches has nothing to be sorry about in her introduction.
You can watch the trailer here:
The old Mayfair House in New Orleans is known for “murders, disappearances,” but it’s really famous for its witches, something many practitioners prefer to conceal. Rowan’s gifts are so strong, they cannot be hidden or ignored. Neither can Daddario’s wide-eyed journey of discovery. Everything she touches seems to transform reality. It is a family trait, which is only self-destructively irresistible to one witch every generation. Mayfair Witches will stream its first two episodes exclusively on AMC+ on Jan.

I remember when there was such a profound lack of Latinx representation in Hollywood that even seeing our beloved Jennifer Lopez playing a Latina maid in "Maid in Manhattan" felt like progress - compared to films in which we were portrayed as sexpots, gang members, or drug lords. For years, Hollywood has perpetuated harmful stereotypes of Latinx communities, and this failure to humanize Latinxs in mainstream media, film, and television directly impacts the way we are treated by society. While recent years have seen more positive portrayals in Hollywood, it's been slow.
As a result, we as a community have found ourselves at times overly critical of Latinx films or series; we're often quick to dismiss or cancel certain stories because they didn't get everything right. And while the criticism is often valid - like how Lin-Manuel Miranda's film adaptation of "In The Heights" failed to fully depict the...
