- On the night of September 13, 1936, Blood shot herself in the head at her home at 12 Griswald Road on the grounds of the Westchester Country Club in Harrison, New York with a .32 caliber revolver. She died a few hours later at the United Hospital in Port Chester, New York. Her 17-year-old daughter, Dawn, was in the home with friends when they heard the sound of a gunshot come from Blood's bedroom. Dawn told police that her mother had been financially pressed and worried excessively in the previous two weeks.

After a three day party at a nudist camp near Roscoe California where Jimmy and a few of his friends had a membership, Dawn left with two girlfriends to go back to her home. When Jimmy returned home on the third day, Dawn, a male friend of Jimmy's and Jimmy had a vehement argument about the behavior of Jimmy's friend toward his wife. Dawn retreated to the bedroom to let the men fight it out among themselves. Suddenly a rifle shot came from the bedroom. Jimmy told police that Dawn had shot herself in the head with a .22 caliber rifle in the bedroom of their home at 13050 Riverside Drive in North Hollywood, California. She was 19. She had died the same way as her mother.
