Philanthropist and socialite (a friend of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor). Her father, Anthony J. Drexel Biddle, inspired her book (The Happiest Millionaire) and subsequent Broadway play and movie. Her first husband was grandson of the founder of Duke Tobacco (later American Tobacco).
Her son, Angier B. Duke, was White House Chief of Protocol under John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson and later held ambassadorial posts.
