Scavengers is a crazy trippy animated sci-fi short that you've got to watch. This is just such a weird viewing experience, but I absolutely loved it! The story follows two astronauts who end up stranded on a strange planet full of strange alien creatures. They spend their time on the planet studying these creatures in the weirdest ways, but it all leads to a specific goal that they have in mind.
The Vesta - 1 project mission was to establish human settlement on planet designation Vesta Minor. All contact with Vesta - 1 command crew was lost shortly after arrival.
The short was directed by Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner. It's a unique and fascinating short that's completely peculiar and has an eerie and haunting tone.

Viking lore and supernatural creatures have often been ripe material for stories through numerous generations, extending even to the modern day. With The History Channel’s fictional series revolving around the exploits of real-life vikings, and Marvel’s currently successful comic book at movie series revolving around their version of the Norse God Thor, the stories continue to fascinate people across many mediums. Similarly, supernatural creatures have been the subject of a number of tales over time, with new ones being told every day in every medium.
Now Vimeo user and animator Joseph Bennett has brought the two together in a clash against each other. Titled Odin’s Afterbirth, the short film is animated, allowing for more visceral action that is taken advantage of. In addition to doing the animation, Bennett also provided some of the voices and edited the whole short, which had previously been released over a number of years in three parts.

The old Hollywood studio-hand W.S. Van Dyke -- who directed, amongst countless other things, "The Thin Man" -- once advised a young Orson Welles to "just keep it close, and keep it moving." And an unlikely inheritor of this wisdom is Paul W.S. Anderson, whose latest work to hit screens is this week's "Pandorum," which he executive produced, leaving the directing to German up-and-comer Christian Alvart. Rivaled only by Uwe Boll for the title of worst-reviewed director of the past decade, Anderson's also been one of the most resourceful. Working with the flimsiest material (video game adaptations and remakes) in the least respectable of genres (sci-fi, horror), he's managed to construct a remarkably coherent body of work. With his longtime producer Jeremy Bolt and a loose coterie of actors, he's created a series of films that focus on the expressiveness of claustrophobic spaces and the physical grace of his (mainly) female protagonists.
