- Composer,conductor, bandleader, author and songwriter, educated at Columbia University. He made many records. Leading his own orchestra in the 1940s, he later became the musical director for recordings, most notably for Perry Como. He joined ASCAP in 1955, and his popular-song compositions include "I'm A Slave to You"; "He's a Wolf"; "Scratchin' the Surface"; and "Madeira".
