If you say the phrase "war of the roses," chances are that most movie watchers will think of Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner as a combative couple rather than any historical bobbins between the houses of Lancaster and York. But going forward, film fans may instead picture Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman as the troubled pair, as they're starring in a reimagining of the William Adler novel that Danny DeVito brought to screens back in 1989.
Jay Roach, who has swung between comedy and political movies, is on board to direct what will this time be simply titled The Roses, with Poor Things' Tony McNamara writing the adaptation.
Cumberbatch and Colman will produce as well as starring as Theo and Ivy, who are seemingly living their Best Life. They've got successful careers, wonderful kids and an enviable sexual chemistry. But alas! Lurking underneath that seemingly perfect family façade is a tinderbox...

It’s been one year since Industry‘s Harper survived Rif and secured her desk at Pierpoint, but the pandemic has since shaken up the trading world and all of the economies that surround it. However, making it out of Rif alive won’t keep her safe forever, and in Season 2, she’s going to have to hustle even harder if she plans on driving business and staying put on the floor.
The premiere picks up after the height of the pandemic, and Harper is still working from “home” (or rather, the hotel she’s currently living in). It’s...

Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito united for War Of The Roses. And now a movie sequel is on the way...
News
The current Hollywood trend of the belated sequel continues (which we wrote about here), with the news that a sequel is being planned to 1989's The War Of The Roses. The first film was directed by Danny DeVito, who starred alongside Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. It told of a marriage that wasn't the friendliest, and the new film, based on the novel by William Adler, is going to pick up the story of their children.
Cunningly entitled The War Of The Roses: The Children, no director or cast have been linked with the project yet. But it does have a writer. Relative newcomer Alex McAulay has been hired to pen the screenplay for the new film, which will see said children having 'tricky' marriages of their own.

"I know who you are."
The 1990s were a good decade for Harrison Ford, even without playing a character named "han" or "Indiana." After taking over as Tom Clancy character Jack Ryan for 1992's Patriot Games, Ford followed with 1993's The Fugitive, which became one of the biggest hits of Ford's career. Not even 1997's Air Force One could eclipse The Fugitive's box office receipts, though it came close.
Ford finished out the decade with 1999's Random Hearts, which saw Ford play Washington, D.C. police officer William "Dutch" Van Den Broeck, who learns that his wife was unfaithful only after losing her in an airplane crash. The incident forces Dutch to cross paths with Congresswoman Kay Chandler, whose husband was having the affair with his wife and was on the same plane. Based on the novel of the same name by William ADler (War of the Roses, Random Hearts...
