There's been chatter for years about singer/songwriter Taylor Swift joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yesterday evening, one scooper went so far as to claim she's had a "good meeting" with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to discuss her joining the franchise.
Swift, who has become nothing short of a global phenomenon in recent years, is no stranger to acting and has even stepped behind the camera to direct. With that in mind - and the singer's immense popularity - it's no great shock that Marvel Studios is interested in working with her.
The question now is, who should she play? Many of the McU's biggest roles have already been cast and, given how successful Swift is as a writer and recording artist, we don't anticipate her signing any nine-picture movie deals!
In this feature, we explore some of the most exciting and realistic possibilities for Swift's MCU role. To check them out,...

The latest episode of "X-Men '97," called "Motendo/Lifedeath, Part 1," features the return of Mojo, a longtime X-Men villain who made his debut in "Longshot" #3, published in November of 1985. Mojo was a horrible, mutilated cybernetic monster with robotic spidery legs and a series of mechanical tubes sprouting from his body. He ruled a dimension called the Mojoverse, and oversaw one of the realm's most popular TV shows, "Mojovision," a gladiatorial show wherein superpowered beings from across multiple dimensions would be forced to fight to the death. Mojo lived for ratings and only cared about watching his numbers increase. He was modeled after the shallow TV executives and schmoozing moneymen who oversee most creative efforts in Hollywood.
Mojo made a memorable appearance in two episodes of "X-Men: The Animated Series" wherein he was enthusiastically played by Canadian voice actor Peter Wildman. In "Mojovision", he snarled and cackled as he forced the...

We know what you’re thinking. You like Hellboy but think there’s something missing. Like, maybe a little…mecha.
Well, for those thinking exactly that, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola has heard your cries of woe and answered them.
Mignola has reunited with artist Duncan Fegredo for Giant Robot Hellboy, a three-issue mini-series that promises to be exactly what the title lays out, a Hellboy that is one giant mecha.
Mignola wrote the series while Fegredo, with whom the creator worked on Hellboy: Darkness Calls, Hellboy: The Wild Hunt, and Hellboy: The Storm and The Fury, is handling the art. The comic will mark Fegredo’s first interior work since 2019 as the artist has focused mostly on covers since then. Eisner Award-winning colorist Dave Stewart and longtime Hellboy Universe letterer Clem Robins are also on the book.

Our friends at Mondo have sent us their latest offering, the premium scale "Godzilla 89" statue, which is their biggest collectible to date at a towering 18-inches tall and 15-inches wide. We took the opportunity to unbox this glorious piece, which pays tribute to the Heisei-era classic "Godzilla vs. Biollante" from 1989.
Directed by Kazuki Ōmori, who also helmed the 1991 follow-up "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah," the film concerned the King of the Monsters duking it out with a monster derived from plant cells.
At first, I thought this box art was done by comics great and noted Godzilla aficionado Art Adams, but then discovered it was actually commissioned by Mondo...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding in ways no one could have predicted back in 2008, when Jon Favreau’s Iron Man movie lit the fuse on this billion-dollar juggernaut.
But now that Disney+ is officially live for those in North America (those in the UK can expect a launch towards the end of March), the McU is beginning to fire on all cylinders, populating its ever-growing universe with TV shows as diverse as WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Each series has been slated for a 2020 premiere on Disney+, and they’ll provide an opportunity to further develop characters like Wanda Maximoff and Sam Wilson, all the while introducing new ones into the wider McU. Like another Valkyrie, for instance.
Indeed, according to Jeremy Conrad of McU Cosmic, the Powers That Be over at Marvel plan to introduce Mist in the not-so-distant future, either through the upcoming Loki series or,...

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is getting a comic book follow-up!
If you had told me 20 years ago that Spider-Man's defining characteristic would eventually be that he's friends with all the different versions of himself from throughout the multiverse, I would have run screaming from the time traveler with weird diseases. But also it wouldn't have made much sense - Peter Parker was Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's attempt at making a more human hero with real person problems that everyday folks could relate to. Now, however, he's the guy who bounces around the multiverse taking out enormous, reality-destroying threats, and I'll be 100-percent upfront with you: I'm here for it.
At Sdcc 2019, Marvel announced that Spider-Man will once again swing around the multiverse in Spider-Verse, a six-issue limited series from Jed Mackay (Black Cat) and a rotating team of artists, including Juan Frigeri (Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man...

The 1980s were an important period for comics as they transitioned from the Bronze Age to the Modern or Dark Age of Comics with books like Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns. It was also an incredibly creative time for Marvel Comics with Chris Claremont and John Byrne beginning the decade with their “Dark Phoenix Saga” epic in Uncanny X-Men, Frank Miller’s run on Daredevil as well as the first event crossover Secret Wars and ending with the rise of artists, like Todd McFarlane and Jim Lee, who would later found Image Comics.
At East Coast Comicon, comics historian and researcher of the Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe Peter Sanderson, former Uncanny X-Men editor and Daredevil writer Ann Nocenti, and former Amazing Spider-Man editor Jim Salicrup chatted and swapped stories about what Marvel was really like in the 1980s.

It’s time to return to the ruined wastes of New York City once more in Years of Future Past #1, a new Secret Wars series coming this June. Writer Marguerite Bennett and artist Mike Norton take you back to the apocalyptic future of one of the most famous X-Men tales of all time – and the tragedies that come with it.
Amid the ravaged hellscape of Battleworld’s Sentinel Territories, armies of armored behemoths patrol the skies and streets. Their mission – exterminate all mutants! Amid the rubble walks Kate Pryde – mother, warrior, X-Man. A heroine tried and true and tested by war, she stokes the fires of revolution.
Rebellion is in the air, and Kate Pryde will do anything to ensure the survival of her people – including breaking the remaining X-Men out of their military prison! But is she willing to risk everything, even her family? The answers lie within this...

In her first appearance, she defeated Doctor Doom. Since then, she's taken on Wolverine, Deadpool, and freaking Thanos—and she's never lost. Not a bad track record for a superhero–especially considering that the superhero in question is Squirrel Girl, a Marvel Comics back-bencher who's probably best known for being Luke Cage's nanny. (She was also on the Great Lakes Avengers, one of the goofiest superteams in history. Like, the Great Lakes Avengers make the West Coast Avengers look like the Dark Avengers.) But now, at long last, Squirrel Girl is getting her own solo ongoing series starting in January.

Here’s your first look at Original Sin #7 – the penultimate chapter from New York Times Bestselling writer Jason Aaron (Thor: God of Thunder) and critically acclaimed artist Mike Deodato (New Avengers). The shocking final page of last issue kept fans on the edge of their seats, and now as Original Sin races towards its epic climax – the heroes of the Marvel Universe prepare for their final stand against… Nick Fury?
Operating in the shadows, Nick Fury has protected the Marvel Universe from unseen forces. Protecting the Marvel Universe by any means necessary, Fury has “guarded the wall” for decades right under the noses of both S.H.E.I.L.D. and the Avengers. Now, drained of the Infinity Formula that kept him youthful, the battle-hardened soldier is rapidly aging, his time left short. But his job is never done…

Damn, I love the work of Arthur "Art" Adams. He did the cover of a Creature from the Black Lagoon comic adaptation that I still cherish and now he's taking on the new Godzilla for Legendary Comics. That's the art you see for Godzilla: Awakening by Adams. To pave the way for the iconic creature’s return on the big screen May 16th, Legendary Comics will be releasing this title.

Infinity #6
Writer: Jonathan Hickman
Art: Jim Cheung, Dustin Weaver, Mark Morales, Guillermo Ortego, Dave Meikis, and John Livesay
Colorist: Justin Ponsor with Ive Svorcina
Publisher: Marvel Comics
The Avengers have saved the galaxy. Now it’s time to save the Earth. As writer Jonathan Hickman wraps up the Infinity event, a miniseries that has been an Avengers-centric story, he finally writes a comic that feels like an Avengers comic in Infinity #6. Having defeated the Builders in space, Captain America and the Avengers return to Earth, finding it blockaded by Thanos’ servants as the villain has pursued a personal vendetta to find his son. The boy that the Inhumans of Earth have hidden for years, Thane, is now in the grips of one of Thanos’ lieutenants, Ebony Maw, and thanks to Black Bolt’s explosive release of the Terrigen mist over the planet, now possesses powers that he doesn’t comprehend.

An assortment of comics from a publisher I haven’t previously been aware of can be a promising sign occasionally. The rest of the time there’s usually a pretty good reason I didn’t know they existed.
Fame: Neil Gaiman is an illustrated biography of Gaiman, fantasy writer and easily-googleable man. It’s hard to picture exactly why this comic exists: full of factoids that seem to the result of a quick scour of his Wikipedia page (did you know Gaiman’s been on the Colbert Report?) and a thick, sketchy art style that I could only get on with when it was aping the characters from Gaiman’s work – though to Gerratana’s credit he does a fine Princess Mononoke – it seems like the kind of book handed out to young kids at a library and is something of a stodgy read. The cover’s lovely, though.

When these artists started working, Wolverine was one of Marvel’s biggest stars. He got his own solo book in 1988 and was prominently featured in Fox’s long-running X-Men cartoon. Wolverine also appeared in his first solo video games Wolverine and Wolverine: Adamantium Rage in 1991 and 1994. In comics, this was a time of experimentation and changes for the character. He lost his adamantium skeleton to Magneto in X-Men 25 (1993), left the X-Men and became feral. His appearance changed to look more like Hugh Jackman from the X-Men films, his origin and true name James Howlett were revealed in Origin (2001-2), and he joined the Avengers and X-Force. He also began to randomly guest star in various titles leading to what is called “Wolverine Publicity” by TV Tropes.

Like last year’s Top 10 Comics of 2011, quite a few series that were in the Top 10 New Comics of 2011 have migrated over to this list, but to my surprise many of my favourite comics of 2012 were my favourites of 2011. My criteria for selection were based on how quickly I read the comics after picking up my standing order.
1: Uncanny X-Force | Marvel | W: Rick Remender | A: Phil Noto
For the third year running – The Best X-men Series, and still my favourite comic, the inclusion of Phil Noto replacing Opena on art has done nothing to harm this comic, I’ve always been a big Noto fan ? Perfect writing, amazing artwork, it’s a shame it had to end.
