(1982) Stage: Appeared in "Little Johnny Jones" on Broadway. Revival. NOTE: This was one of the all-time monumental flops on Broadway, based on
George M. Cohan's "Little Johnny Jones" (the show that
James Cagney's Oscar-winning Cohan performs while singing "Yankee Doodle Dandy" in the eponymous 1942 film). Reviewers derided it as pitifully old-fashioned and out-of-date, even in those early years of Reaganism. It opened at the Alvin Theatre on March 21, 1982, after 29 previews and closed that same day for a total of one (1) performance. Only those shows that close without ever having officially opened (that is, during previews) have done worse.
