Denzel Washington is unarguably one of the best actors and personality as a whole that the entertainment industry could ever be gifted with. Not only is he one of the most respectable celebrities in all of Hollywood, he is also one of the most widely commended actors of all time. If anything, he doesn’t hesitate to speak his mind and act his heart out.
Denzel Washington in The Tragedy of Macbeth.
That being said, he also aimed to break one long-standing stereotype about him while working on his 2001 thriller-crime masterpiece with Ethan Hawke, Training Day. According to what Hawke shared during an interview, even when people tried to stop him, Washington stayed on his decision to prove that he could play a bad guy and still be a role model by “being great at my job.”

There is no denying that Robin Williams was one of the greatest entertainers to have graced the industry. His on-screen presence, improvisation skills, and comedic timing, all contributed to making him one of the best comedians of all time. Therefore, it isn’t surprising that the financiers behind the 1992 biographical drama, Chaplin, wanted to cast him in the lead role. After all, he was taking the comedy genre by storm, wasn’t he?
Robin Williams in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009)
As fate would have it, though, the role ended up going to Robert Downey Jr. who did an incredible job and did justice to the life and personality of Charlie Chaplin. Appreciated by many for his performance, Robert Downey Jr. ended up receiving his first Oscar nomination, all thanks to this very role.

With a career that has lasted over 50 years, it’s expected that Al Pacino would have some stinkers. But nothing is worse on the resume of Pacino than 2011’s Jack and Jill – hey, at least Gigli streamed on the Criterion Channel. For his performance as himself, he earned the Worst Supporting Actor Razzie…but also gave us one of the best ads in history.
In Jack and Jill, Al Pacino is recruited by Adam Sandler’s Jack to do a commercial for the Dunkaccino, a coffee/hot chocolate blend that Dunkin’ Donuts actually discontinued last year. Although he doesn’t have a credit, much of that scene came about because of Robert Smigel, who came onboard before Pacino was even cast. As he remembered, “The Dunkaccino thing was just something I thought of while I was doing the rewrite. The whole premise was already there — that Adam worked at an...

When Johnny Depp praised and thanked his Jeanne du Barry director for giving him a chance when nearly no other filmmaker would, it showed genuine appreciation. But then director Maïwenn seemed to betray her star, giving an interview in The Independent that painted Depp as “scary” on the set and Maïwenn as disloyal. Now, Maïwenn is trying to right the wrongs ahead of the film’s North American release next week.
Speaking with Variety, Maïwenn said that her quotes about Johnny Depp had been misrepresented. “When I made a remark about Johnny being ‘scary,’ I was talking about his charisma, his notoriety, his star status, etc… was shocked when I discovered that the newspaper had headlined that ‘The crew were afraid of [Johnny Depp]’ because written like that, and without its context and subtleties, it absolutely no longer means the same thing. Many A-list celebrities have fallen in love with one another after assuming the role of a couple on screen. Sadly, the majority of those love tales end badly as the couple separates for ideological reasons. One such pairing was Diane Keaton and Al Pacino, who fell in love with each other during the filming of the classic 1972 flick, The Godfather, helmed by Francis Ford Coppola.
Keaton was still relatively new to the industry when Paramount Pictures cast her as Kay Adams in one of the biggest movies ever made. It was there that she also got to know Pacino, her former partner. After being paired opposite in the film series, the on-screen couple soon started dating off-screen.

But did you know that, despite the unmistakable chemistry that sizzled through our cinema screens, Keaton and Pacino’s real-life romance had a sad ending?...

Al Pacino and Dan Stevens are set to team up as priests in the forthcoming exorcism horror ‘The Ritual’.
Ashley Greene and Abigail Cowen will also join Pacino and Stevens on the cast list.
Based on a true story, the movie will follow two priests — one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) — who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms.
Also in news – Lakeith Stanfield eyed for neo-noir game adaptation ‘El Paso, Elsewhere’
The film provides an accurate portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman who was believed to be possessed by demonic spirits, which led to several harrowing exorcisms. This case is considered to be the most extensively documented exorcism in American history.
David Midell will direct from a script he co-wrote alongside Enrico Natale. Andrew Stevens, Mitchell Welch and Natale will produce.

There really needs to be some regulation on calling your horror movie The Ritual, even it has a ritual or rituals in it. Seriously, go to the IMDb and see how many titles come up with you type it in (we'll wait — it could be a while)… That, however, isn't stopping director David Midell, who has Al Pacino and Dan Stevens ready to play priests in a new based-on-truth tale that uses that name.
Midell wrote the script with creative partner Enrico Natale and has taken inspiration from a true story. It'll follow a pair of priests, with Stevens' questioning his faith and Pacino's trying to overcome a troubled past as they shove their differences aside to try to help a young woman.
Emma Schmidt's demonic possession demanded a series of dangerous and harrowing exorcism, and her case is still the most thoroughly documented example of the practice in American history.

That Time Meryl Streep Was Motivated By Money To Take A TV Role For The Sake Of The Love Of Her Life
Hollywood is not the place you think of first when it comes to stories of true love or long-lasting romantic relationships. But just like in her professional life, famed thespian Meryl Streep bucked the trend with her real-life relationship with the late actor John Cazale. The relationship even made the fastidious Streep break her own rule of doing a role purely for the sake of money.

Streep was in her 20s, while Cazale was 14 years older and making a name for himself with prominent roles in The Godfather and its sequel, The Conversation, and Dog Day Afternoon.

Al Pacino has played the Devil before (in the 1997 film The Devil’s Advocate), now he’s set to play an enemy of the Devil, as he has signed on to play a troubled priest in the exorcism horror film The Ritual. Pacino will star in the film alongside Dan Stevens of Abigail and Godzilla x Kong, who will also be playing a troubled priest.
Variety reports that XYZ Films has acquired the worldwide rights to The Ritual and are planning to give the movie a theatrical release sometime in 2025. They’ll be setting up international distribution deals at the upcoming Cannes Film Market. David Midell will be directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with Enrico Natale. He previously directed the 2014 drama NightLights and the 2019 thriller The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain.

Dan Stevens is everywhere lately, from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire to Abigail and the upcoming Cuckoo. We’re not complaining. Up next? He’s starring in horror movie The Ritual.
Al Pacino and Dan Stevens have both joined the cast of the upcoming exorcism horror movie from XYZ Films and director David Midell, Variety reports this afternoon.
Based on a true story, the film “follows two priests — one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) — who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms.”
Variety details, “The film is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. Her case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history.”

Tobias Menzies has become one of our most reliably excellent actors of late. Classically trained, he had an extensive theatre career in his native England during the noughties and early 2010s before he rose to prominence with roles in “Game of Thrones” and “Outlander.”
Menzies’ profile then increased further thanks to his lauded portrayal of Prince Phillip in “The Crown” and his stock has again risen thanks to his role as another major historical figure in Apple TV’s “Manhunt.” The acclaimed limited series follows the death of President Abraham Lincoln (played by Hamish Linklater) and the subsequent 12-day manhunt for assassin John Wilkes Booth (Anthony Boyle).
Menzies stars as Edwin Stanton, the Secretary of State and personal friend of Lincoln who headed up the hunt for Booth. Menzies proves himself capable of carrying this compelling show entirely on his own. His complex, gruff portrayal of Stanton is what makes the series soar,...

Six figures probably don’t matter much when you are the driver behind the wheel of The Godfather. But Francis Ford Coppola has never been one to stick to the rules. To the chagrin of the Hollywood studio system and its financiers, the director has been a chaos bringer for the better part of his career – a behavior that was further exemplified in his latest directorial project, Megalopolis.

The Godfather series directed by Francis Ford Coppola is still regarded as one of the iconic trilogies of Hollywood. While the first two films were runaway blockbusters, the 3rd film did not fare as well at the box office and also received lukewarm responses from critics. Nevertheless, the franchise became a cult classic thanks to memorable performances from Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, and others.

While the actors were defining factors in the success of the films, Coppola’s decision to include his daughter Sofia Coppola in The Godfather 3 ironically proved to be a mistake. Having replaced Winona Ryder for the role, the filmmaker received a lot of criticism for her performance, but did not get disheartened as she was fully aware that her future did not lie in acting.

Meryl Streep has been regarded as one of the most successful people of all time. Having broken records with how talented she is, normality has long escaped her life. However, many might not know that the actress faced one of the most human tragedies of them all; loss.
Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada
Before getting married to Don Gummer, Streep was famously involved with her Measure for Measure co-star, John Cazale, who was best known for his work on projects like The Deer Hunter and The Godfather. The two shared a very close and intimate connection that lasted until his passing from lung cancer. Many have found the actress to be very brave to have gone through such sorrow while simultaneously working.
However, it is when greatness is in the company of greatness that they are finally allowed to be people. Al Pacino is at the same level of fame as Streep.

The film industry often comes across people who will never be forgotten for centuries to come. With their expert skills and undeniable charm, these people manage to make a mark on the industry that does not dull with time. The Godfather’s John Cazale was one such extraordinary actor who managed to deliver one great performance after the other.
John Cazale in The Godfather (1972)
Unfortunately, his time in Hollywood was limited as the actor passed away in 1978, just after being a part of six total films. Even though John Cazale doesn’t have an extensive filmography to his name, he holds a record that no actor has been or will be able to break. From his feature film debut in 1972 to his last film in 1978, all five of them have been cinematic masterpieces.

Have you ever thought about what it feels like to be part of something legendary yet somehow stand apart from its central narrative? Diane Keaton felt like a fish out of water in the male-dominated world of Francis Ford Coppola’s classic 1972 epic crime film The Godfather.
The Oscar-winning actress, 78, was once unfiltered about a memory that’s as raw as it is real: feeling like an “outcast” while working in Coppola’s cinematic tour de force, The Godfather. Notwithstanding the enormous success of the movie and her own remarkable performance, Keaton’s role in the film alongside actors like Al Pacino strengthened her place in cinematic history.

However, she never felt more important on set than her co-stars in this film. The Francis Ford Coppola film was inspired by the same-titled Mario Puzo 1969 novel, which had already garnered a sizable fan base.

It’s been more than fifty years since The Godfather was released and instantly became the cinema’s biggest cult classic, but all of its actors may have unconsciously merged with their roles, whatever projects they would signed up for.
Here it’s Al Pacino that comes as the most striking example: after the actor starred as Vito Corleone’s youngest son Michael, Al Pacino turned into Michael and Michael turned into Al Pacino — as simple as that.
Despite the fact that right now nobody can imagine Al Pacino being replaced by another actor in The Godfather, this option was more than possible back then and eventually got canceled at the last minute — by the main challenger himself.
Though it’s hard to believe it these days, back in the day it was Jack Nicholson who The Godfather’s director Francis Ford Coppola was strongly considering for Michael Corleone’s role.

Francis Ford Coppola is one of the most revered directors in Hollywood. He enjoyed tremendous success with the Godfather franchise, even if the third and final installment polarized the fans. Regardless, the filmmaker won critical acclaim, and it engraved his name in the annals of cinema history.
Coppola can be credited for adapting the book for the big screen so flawlessly, with each role carefully chosen. However, the production for the third film was mired in problems, accentuated by the fact that Robert Duvall refused to return to complete the trilogy.

Why did Robert Duvall turn down Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather 3?
Francis Ford Coppola established himself as an esteemed director quite early on in his career. He put together an incredible lineup that brought Mario Puzo’s novel to life, with Al Pacino and Marlon Brando leading the cast.

In 2002, Robin Williams and Al Pacino shared screen space in Christopher Nolan’s psychological thriller Insomnia. Compared to Nolan’s famed works, this film remained a very underrated one, but became a cult classic over the years. More significantly, it saw Williams in a completely different avatar as a scheming killer, which was a far cry from his comedic turns.

The Godfather trilogy began in 1972 and is still considered one of the most iconic and influential films of all time. If you truly want to get into the essence of cinema, The Godfather is a must-watch for you. No wonder the film found a place for itself in the U.S. National Film Registry. It had a ton of unforgettable characters that filmmakers haven’t been able to replicate, even today. But now, it looks like Dune 2 has come to challenge this statement. At least, according to Denis Villeneuve.

Donald Trump, if you take it from him, is cherishing the opportunity to stand trial on criminal charges related to a hush-money payment to a porn star. “I’m very proud to be here,” he told reporters before heading into court on Monday, calling the proceedings an “assault on America” that his presence, presumably, would serve to expose. “I’m very honored to be here,” the former president added.

Greg Daniels and Michael Koman could return to The Office universe, with Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) as cast members of the proposed spinoff. Gleeson and Inpacciatore would be part of an ensemble for the project, which Deadline says is close to entering production. Plot details about The Office spinoff remain a mystery.
We know only a little about the project beyond its setting in The Office universe. Daniels wants fans to know it’s not a reboot, even though it takes place in the same arena as the Steve Carell-led mockumentary series focusing on the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company employees. Daniels says the new show could feature a camera crew doing a documentary about a subject outside the day-to-day lives of office workers surviving the daily grind and their toxic boss.
Domhnall Gleeson launched his acting career in 2001 as a character named Byrne in an episode of Rebel Heart.

Brian De Palma has often been called the second incarnation of Alfred Hitchcock in cinema. During his long career in Hollywood, he earned a reputation as one of the most provocative and versatile directors, equally at home directing gory horror films, brutal gangster dramas, and commercial hits.
His works became a reference not only for the creation of other movies and music videos, but also for musical careers; for example, Al Pacino's scream from Carlito's Way opened Jay-Z's second platinum album. And another of De Palma's cult films was the inspiration for Quentin Tarantino to create the best character in one of his most famous flicks, Pulp Fiction.
Tarantino’s Choice for The Role of Vincent Vega Was a Surprise to Many
Tarantino likes to choose actors at his own discretion and gets very upset when one of his chosen stars is not available to participate in his movies.

Former President Donald Trump was roundly mocked on late night television for an error-laden social media post in which he confused Jimmy Kimmel and Al Pacino as the presenter of this year’s best picture Oscar.
On Wednesday, the presumptive Republican nominee for president drew some attention away from his hush money trial, which is now in the jury selection process in Manhattan, with a post on his Truth Social platform in which he reignited a feud with Kimmel, who hosted the Oscar ceremony March 10, more than five weeks ago.

As per Cannes’ stipulation for opening films, it released theatrically in France the same day, enjoying a successful run for distributor Le Pacte with the highest French gross for a Cannes opener since The Great Gatsby in 2013.
In.2 will release the movie on 70 screens on April 19 across the UK in a campaign spearheaded by Head of Production Stephen Malit.
The UK release will be followed by the U.S. launch by Vertical Entertainment on May 2, which has confirmed 600 theatres so far.

American TV bosses obviously didn’t learn many lessons from “Episodes,” the Showtime/BBC co-production which brilliantly skewered the habit of adapting British sitcoms, and removing all nuances, subtleties, and idiosyncrasies in the process. In the 13 years since its premiere, there’s been numerous failed pilots (“Spy”), ratings disasters (“Free Agents”), and entire series considered unfit for public consumption (“Us and Them”) which originated across the pond. Now the most singular UK comedy of the 2010s is going transatlantic.
The BAFTA-nominated “Friday Night Dinner” — which served up 37 episodes from 2011-2020 —stemmed from creator Robert Popper’s real-life secular Jewish family and their weekly Shabbat meals, explaining why everything from its suburban London home to its lovable oddballs feels so wonderfully specific. Disappointingly, Amazon Freevee’s “Dinner with the Parents” is as generic as its title.
The 10-part series on Freevee does attempt to retain some of the original’s quirks.

Donald Trump has weighed in, five weeks later, on Jimmy Kimmel’s recent turn as Oscars host — and his rant has Kimmel tempted to emcee the awards show once again.
On Wednesday morning, amidst his recently commenced criminal trial, Trump fired off a Truth Social post about “Stupid Jimmy Kimmel,” first incorrectly claiming that this year’s Oscars telecast suffered a “big ratings drop” with Kimmel as host. (The show actually drew its largest audience in four years.)

Stephen Colbert is standing up to Donald Trump and defending Jimmy Kimmel after the former Potus attacked this year’s Oscars host.
Colbert addressed Trump’s latest tirade against Kimmel on The Late Show, calling out his obsession with the Academy Awards.
“You keep my friend Jimmy Kimmel’s name out of your weird little wet mouth, Ok?” Colbert said sternly. “I’m mad. Jimmy Kimmel is my podcast brother from Strike Force Five. And I have vowed to defend him until my death or until the next ad for Mint Mobile.”
Colbert continued, “And for the record, sir, Jimmy did an incredible job as host. Oscar viewership was up 4%. That’s right. This year, four more people watched.”
The CBS late-night show host called out Trump for posting on Truth Social while he faces trial “to stay laser-focused on the issues that voters care most about.”

After a long two days of court naps and having to sit through mean memes, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to throw a tantrum. The former president once again took aim at late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who on Tuesday, roasted Trump over his clumsy attempt to pass off his alleged hush money payment to Stormy Daniels as a “legal expense” and his struggling Twitter copycat.
Trump revisited Kimmel’s months-old joke about him at the Oscars (a highlight of the ceremony), whilst also confusing the comedian for Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino.
