#10 Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's Lesbian Wedding
It was a "finally" when the outspoken lesbian couple walked down the aisle on August 16 after a number of wedding rumors that never came to realization. Their wedding made them the first same-sex celebrity couple who got married shortly after the California Supreme Court turned down its gay marriage ban, "What can I say? I'm the luckiest girl in the world," Ellen DeGeneres told People magazine in an interview when talking about her bride Portia de Rossi,

SAG embraced "Doubt" on Thursday as the nominees for the 15th annual SAG Awards were announced.
The four principals from the Miramax film were all blessed: Meryl Streep, playing a nun convinced of her certitude, was nominated in the best actress category, while Philip Seymour Hoffman, who plays the reform-minded priest she challenges, was included in the supporting actor category. Amy Adams and Viola Davis scored noms as supporting actresses. The film took home a fifth nom in the ensemble category for outstanding performance by a motion picture cast.
All four "Doubt" performers were nominated for Golden Globes last week, but the film's ensemble nom gives it a boost in its quest for a best picture Oscar nom after it was denied a slot in the Globes' best drama fold.
Runners-up were Focus' "Milk" and Paramount/Warner Bros.' "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," each with three noms.

The list of TV series and made for TV movies that fill in the nominations of Screen Actors Guild Awards next year is unraveled. This time around, NBC's comedy series "30 Rock" has shown another domination by taking three nominations, including a nod each for its two lead actors, Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey.
Also triumphing on the primetime television is the Paul Giamatti-starring miniseries "John Adams". Like "30 Rock", the show accumulates 3 nominations, the same amount that other series like "Mad Men", "The Closer" and "Boston Legal" gather. This time the network that earns most of the nomination is HBO with 9 while ABC and NBC follow behind with 8.
The nominees are selected by actors' peers through a voting that was completed by noon Tuesday, December 16. The second round of voting that determines the winners will be conducted in January and announced on the ceremony on date 25. An award-presenting gala is

Nominations for the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced this morning all while the Guild members are split on whether to move forward with a strike or not... There are certainly a few surprises to be mentioned such as how it looks like Revolutionary Road should start expecting little more than a Kate Winslet nomination as Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Shannon and the film itself are not mentioned. Melissa Leo swoops into the Best Actress category and Kristin Scott Thomas swoops out. Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) takes the Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) nomination and Robert Downey Jr. also gets in on the action for Tropic Thunder. Will the Academy be as open to Downey's comedic role? Many are talking about Doubt coming out of these nominations, but it really should come as No surprise whatsoever since the top award is based on an ensemble acting piece and in those

Doubt, Frost/Nixon and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button were the top movies at the announcement of this year's Golden Globe nominations, each receiving five nods apiece.
Surprisingly, though, only two of those films -- Frost/Nixon and Benjamin Button -- were up for the Best Picture - Drama award, as Doubt was shut out of the category in favor of The Reader, Revolutionary Road, and Slumdog Millionaire, each of which nabbed four nominations. Doubt, however, received the most acting nominations of any film, as all four of its primary stars -- Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Viola Davis -- were recognized; the drama's fifth nomination was for Best Screenplay. Frost/Nixon and Benjamin Button received nominations in the exact same five categories: Best Picture - Drama, Best Actor (Frank Langella and Brad Pitt, respectively), Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Score.

To some fans, the second "The X-Files" movie was almost a decade too late and failed to deliver the gripping adventure they were hoping for. Star David Duchovny however believes that the film is a causality of timing and it would have had a better chance of success had it not been released in the summer. "It's not a special-effects movie," he told SciFi Wire. "It kind of was coming out in a time when you expected it to be -- in the summer. To me, it was more a fall movie." Although there is nothing festive about the plot of the film, it does feature some very artistic visuals as a cerebral hunt-the-killer-thriller that would perhaps have been more accepted at this time of year ... and it looked stunning. "It's a beautiful-looking movie; the location, the glow of the snow and the eeriness ...

There may be another set of twins coming to the Jolie-Pitt household – twin Golden Globe Awards, that is. Both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were among those nominated Thursday morning for Golden Globes, part of Hollywood's pre-Oscar awards' season frenzy now underway. Pitt was nominated for his leading dramatic role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which, along with director Ron Howard's adaptation of the stage drama Frost/Nixon and another stage-to-screen transfer, Doubt, led the Globes' list, with five nominations each. Photo: Hollywood Foreign Press Association The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for the 2009 Golden Globes this morning and the complete list of Motion Picture nominees out of 184 live-action feature films (113 drama and 71 comedies or musicals) and 8 animated feature films is listed below. Looking over the surprises I would have to say The Reader getting in as a Best Picture (Drama) nominee while films such as The Dark Knight and Milk get snubbed is a major surprise. Michael Shannon not being nominated for Revolutionary Road while Tom Cruise gets a nod for his performance in Tropic Thunder caught me off guard and I am sure James Franco wasn't expecting a nomination for Pineapple Express as much as he was hoping for one from Milk, but I am sure he will take it either way. I am also assuming there will be a 50/50 discussion on whether or not Angelina Jolie

David Duchovny and Tea Leoni brought Madelaine and Kyd out to watch the Knicks defeat the Pistons yesterday. They looked like they were having a blast all together in the front row at the game, stopping to talk to some of the players and buying basketball souvenirs to bring home with them. Whether they are back together for good or not, it's clear that David and Tea are putting their family first and trying to leave their drama in the past. More good news for David and Tea is that Californication was picked up for a third season, which will help them pay for their rumored new $7.5 million home in Manhattan. Chicago – “The X-Files: I Want to Believe” was an unqualified disaster in theaters. One of the worst movies of 2008, the film downplayed the strengths of the first few seasons of the influential series and emphasized the weaknesses of the show’s ignominious end.
But the Blu-Ray release of “I Want to Believe” completely ignores the critical drubbing the film received in theaters and plays to the fans of the show and movie, all of whom will be more than satisfied by an impressive and extensive release. “I Want to Believe” is yet another example of a Bd that’s better than the film itself.
Coming a full decade after the first “X-Files” film, “I Want to Believe” is not merely an underwhelming follow-up, something we should have expected after so many years of anticipation. No, this is a failure on every level, a pale shadow of what Chris Carter’s creation was in its prime.
