Upon rewatch, it hits that certain mark that I felt it just barely missed the first time around. Maybe it's because I've seen it already or because the hype has had time to settle down, but it just worked even more than ever during my second rewatch to hit that perfect rating - DirectorDanny DeVitoStarsDanny DeVitoRhea PerlmanMara WilsonA girl gifted with a keen intellect and psychic powers uses both to get even with her callous family and free her kindly schoolteacher from the tyrannical grip of a sadistic headmistress.Rating: 81.5%

There's a reason why this film was the bar that every action movie from the time had to compare itself to. My biggest problem is that it feels like the story is built to fit the set pieces and action scenes rather than the other way around - DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsHitoshi TakagiNoriko HidakaChika SakamotoWhen two girls move to the country to be near their ailing mother, they have adventures with the wondrous forest spirits who live nearby.Rating: 100%

Not what I expected at all (which was more of a raunchy comedy?). Extremely heartfelt and with a message I can get behind. Though I do feel like some of the other characters go a bit underdeveloped because of the massive attention Annie gets, which makes me sad with how great these ladies are in the film - DirectorMartin CampbellStarsDaniel CraigEva GreenJudi DenchAfter earning 00 status and a licence to kill, secret agent James Bond sets out on his first mission as 007. This was not the movie I expected. When it began with the on-the-nose Austin Powers rip-off and had a musical in the first 20 minutes I was tempted to switch it off...but the chemistry between the two leads was so amazing and I'm glad I stuck through with it. One of the funniest movies released in years - DirectorSunghoo ParkStarsChinatsu AkasakiAya EndôKana HanazawaThe prequel to Jujutsu Kaisen (2020), where a high schooler gains control of an extremely powerful cursed spirit and gets enrolled in the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School by Jujutsu Sorcerers.Rating: 79.5%

Pretty close in quality as the original. While the story isn't as fresh, I laughed pretty hard still - DirectorNoah BaumbachStarsAdam SandlerGrace Van PattenDustin HoffmanAn estranged family gathers together in New York City for an event celebrating the artistic work of their father.Rating: 96%
A lot better than I expected, on every level. Most films like this aren't done with this degree of attention to detail and with such great cinematography. I really just enjoyed how such a simple story was executed this well - DirectorDavid AyerStarsJake GyllenhaalMichael PeñaAnna KendrickShot documentary-style, this film follows the daily grind of two young police officers in LA who are partners and friends and what happens when they meet criminal forces greater than themselves.Rating: 64%
The editing and cinematography tank this movie. The found footage stuff is alright, but it's barely used and the shot choice attempts to emulate a found footage feel while being obnoxious. The quick-paced editing doesn't add anything either, just makes it difficult to watch. Some of the story choices as well are questionable, specifically the ending. Gyllenhal and Pena really carry this movie and keep it afloat the whole ride through, making it worth at least a watch - DirectorGeorge MillerStarsTom HardyCharlize TheronNicholas HoultIn a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in search for her homeland with the aid of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshiper and a drifter named Max.Rating: 93%
It still holds up. While the story feels like it has just slightly less weight, and I feel a bit less connected with the characters than in the first time I watched it, it's still amazing what Mad Max is able to do with so little. It's incredibly efficient with its characters, giving us all the more time for the action–which works because of how much of it there is - DirectorAdam McKayStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJennifer LawrenceMeryl StreepTwo low-level astronomers must go on a giant media tour to warn humankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth.Rating: 68.5%
There is some incredibly poignant commentary. Whether you want to relate the message to climate change, or COVID, or any other world-threatening problem, it's a sobering message and I think the last half an hour in particular delivers this. Depsite this, the first 1hr 30 feels like a YouTube video more than a movie. Or an SNL sketch that never ends. It's not bad but it feels...cheap? Lacking depth? - DirectorJohn HughesStarsEmilio EstevezJudd NelsonMolly RingwaldFive high school students meet in Saturday detention and discover how they have a great deal more in common than they thought.Rating: 92%
Bender as a character works WAY less on a 2nd rewatch. Dude's a straight up dick. I don't understand how they just accept him like that. It's one thing for him to be abused, it's another for him to not even attempt to reconcile the things he's done.
Otherwise, this movie's still a blast. Probably the best teen movie ever made, and the characters felt even more real then they did the first time i watched it - DirectorDavid CronenbergStarsViggo MortensenMaria BelloEd HarrisA mild-mannered man becomes a local hero through an act of violence, which sets off repercussions that will shake his family to its very core.Rating: 45.5%

Meh. As a comedy it wasn't that funny. As a drama it wasn't that emotional. Ending was a bit chilling at least - DirectorWes AndersonStarsRalph FiennesF. The potential is there, and maybe with another director or with a more refined script, it could've even been great. Mike's love interest and her brother stink as actors by the way - DirectorWes AndersonStarsBenicio Del ToroAdrien BrodyTilda SwintonA love letter to journalists set in an outpost of an American newspaper in a fictional twentieth century French city that brings to life a collection of stories published in "The French Dispatch Magazine".Rating: 89%
Continuing to develop his style, Wes Anderson continues to kill it. The 1st act in particular is perfect, in my opinion. Act 2 feels less impactful, but act 3 left the movie on an extremely poignant note. - DirectorDennis DuganStarsAdam SandlerSalma HayekKevin JamesAfter their high school basketball coach passes away, five good friends and former teammates reunite for a Fourth of July holiday weekend.Rating: 59%

Funnier than I remember it, but the plot really suffers in the 2nd half, and it doesn't help that almost all of the funny jokes are in the first half as well - DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsRobert De NiroCathy MoriartyJoe PesciThe life of boxer Jake LaMotta, whose violence and temper that led him to the top in the ring destroyed his life outside of it.Rating: 100%

Not as good as I remember it and very much a "2000s screamy ppl drama", but the story is fun and it's an easy watch. I appreciated the way in which the movie illustrated Rabbit's thought process behind his lyrics, it was a great use of the soundtrack - DirectorDennis DuganStarsAdam SandlerKevin JamesChris RockAfter moving his family back to his hometown to be with his friends and their kids, Lenny finds out that between old bullies, new bullies, schizo bus drivers, drunk cops on skis, and four hundred costumed party crashers sometimes crazy follows you.Rating: 32%
While the lack of a plot was semi-endearing in the 1st movie (which felt like a bunch of friends just having a good time filming), it does not work here. The jokes are pretty stale and it's missing the vibe and camaraderie of the first. And the first wasn't the Godfather, so this one kinda stinks - DirectorJordan PeeleStarsDaniel KaluuyaKeke PalmerBrandon PereaThe residents of a lonely gulch in inland California bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.Rating: 86.5%

There were aspects of this movie I loved, such as the various tributes to African culture and some really standout scenes (especially with Killmonger), but overall, it feels like a run-of-the-mill Marvel movie for me - DirectorRyan CooglerStarsLetitia WrightLupita Nyong'oDanai GuriraThe people of Wakanda fight to protect their home from intervening world powers as they mourn the death of King T'Challa.Rating: 64%
There's an extra like 50 minutes in this movie + a character that feel like they can be outright cut out. So that's not great. But otherwise, it's very similar to its predecessor in that there are some great unique aspects but overall feels like just another Marvel movie - DirectorKatsuhiro ÔtomoStarsMitsuo IwataNozomu SasakiMami KoyamaA secret military project endangers Neo-Tokyo when it turns a biker gang member into a rampaging psychic psychopath who can only be stopped by a teenager, his gang of biker friends and a group of psychics.Rating: 93.5%
