- DirectorIrvin KershnerStarsMark HamillHarrison FordCarrie FisherAfter the Rebel Alliance are overpowered by the Empire, Luke Skywalker begins his Jedi training with Yoda, while his friends are pursued across the galaxy by Darth Vader and bounty hunter Boba Fett. The obvious top spot, and for a reason. It's the best in every aspect. Best effects (of the originals), best script, best character development and cinematography. This took the issues the first one had and perfected them.
- DirectorGeorge LucasStarsMark HamillHarrison FordCarrie FisherLuke Skywalker joins forces with a Jedi Knight, a cocky pilot, a Wookiee and two droids to save the galaxy from the Empire's world-destroying battle station, while also attempting to rescue Princess Leia from the mysterious Darth Vader. The original that still is fantastic. Sure, aspects don't hold up and all the edits that Lucas did to it have marred it a bit, but this is till a fantastic adventure.
- CreatorGeorge LucasStarsTom KaneDee Bradley BakerMatt LanterJedi Knights lead the Grand Army of the Republic against the droid army of the Separatists.Wow...this series is amazing! It legitimizes the setting that Lucas ruined with the Prequels. It gives great character to Anakin and you actually care about him as a person slowly being persuaded by the dark side. It makes the clone actual humans and not just cannon fodder. Also Ahsoka is probably the best Star Wars character ever? She's probably the best written and fully realized one. It's early season has a lot of childish episodes, but once it hits the middle of season 2 it's prime story telling. Some episodes here and there are still kinda too simple, and JarJar/Padme episodes are skippable. This series easily has some of the best Star Wars writing ever and the end of Season 5 is probably my favorite and most heart wrenching SW moment ever. Just read a synopsis of the prequels and consider this the SW prequel we deserved!
- DirectorRian JohnsonStarsDaisy RidleyJohn BoyegaMark HamillRey develops her abilities with the help of Luke Skywalker, as the Resistance prepares for battle against the First Order. The best of the sequel trilogy, and proof that Disney should have had a filmmaker like Rian Johnson, who took risks to mess with the typical SW formula, doing each of these movies. It ended up being a fantastic story, marred only by the finale pretty much trying to erase everything from this movie. It has some issues, like Finn's sidequest to the casino, but even then it was cool to see the rich side of the galaxy. I still wish Johnson got to do the finale, but at least we got this diamond in the rough of the sequels.
- CreatorJon FavreauStarsPedro PascalChris BartlettKatee SackhoffThe travels of a lone bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic. It's surprising that a TV show ends up being better than 80% of the rest of SW's properties. The middle sags with two super mediocre episodes, but the beginning 3 and final 3 fantastic and some of the best Star Wars has been in the past 40 years! Proof that we don't need to see someone's face to be a riveting character. Some of the best action ever in a SW thing too! I'm hopeful for season 2 as it's set up really well. I just hope they let Rick Famuyiwa, Taika Waititi, and Deborah Chow be the main directors again as they killed it in their episodes! The only real mediocre episode is the return to Tattooine. It felt forced and the fake young Han substitute was really bad. Other than that the series is fantastic!
- DirectorRichard MarquandStarsMark HamillHarrison FordCarrie FisherAfter rescuing Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt, the Rebel Alliance attempt to destroy the second Death Star, while Luke struggles to help Darth Vader back from the dark side.Nostalgia powers most of my love for RotJ. It's a decent enough movie, but there are sure things in it that don't work well. The ewoks final 1/3 of the movie is not very good. Some of the effects look a bit wonky compared even to the first movie. The Jabba stuff is great in the beginning, but just doing another Death Star again is kind of a lame cop out for a finale. The stuff with Luke and Vader is strong, but cutting in between with the Ewoks is dull. Still a classic, but one that maybe is better remembered in your mind when you watched it over and over as a kid.
- DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsDaisy RidleyJohn BoyegaOscar IsaacAs a new threat to the galaxy rises, Rey, a desert scavenger, and Finn, an ex-stormtrooper, must join Han Solo and Chewbacca to search for the one hope of restoring peace.A solid start to the new trilogy. Fun enough with some nostalgia thrown in. Sure, it shares plot points with A New Hope, but it's still just an entertaining time at the movies.
- CreatorSimon KinbergCarrie BeckDave FiloniStarsDave FiloniTaylor GrayFreddie Prinze Jr.The crew of the spaceship Ghost defends those who cannot fight for themselves against the Empire, providing the spark for a rebellion.A solid series overall. I just never connected with the lead character of Ezra. He's a bit too written for young kids. Ahsoka is fantastically written for anyone to enjoy, but Ezra just feels created to fulfill young kids fantasies of becoming a Jedi. The rest of the leads are decent and honestly better than Ezra. The best and essential parts of the series are ones that bring some sort of finality to The Clone Wars. The return of Ahsoka, the conclusion of the Mandalorian war and Maul's finale are all essential views to people who love TCW. It's not a bad show by any means, it just has a lot of moments that really just weren't that strong. The final season is really good and anything involving Thrawn is pretty fantastic. I'd love to see a sequel series to finish off the cliffhanger of sorts from the ending. Has strong moments, but overall it's just a solid show. None of it ever reaches Clone Wars highs.
- StarsMichael SinterniklaasNeil KaplanAdam SietzAn anthology of animated shorts from around the world celebrating the mythology of Star Wars through unique cultural perspectives.Overall great to see Japanese visions of the SW universe. Two really spectacular ones, rest are middling, with one just being flat out bad.
- DirectorRon HowardStarsAlden EhrenreichWoody HarrelsonEmilia ClarkeDuring an adventure in the criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future co-pilot Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebel Alliance.A super extremely mediocre boring story that somehow is the origin of SW's most beloved character. Somehow Solo got ALL of his character traits within this span of 3 heists he does. Even the heists in this aren't fun at all, just boring shooting and whatnot. This should have been the Ocean's Eleven of Star Wars. Ron Howard replacing the LEGO directors was a huge misstep and turned this into a boring mess. Outside of the SW fanboy moments, it's a mediocre action movie which is more to say than Rogue One! L337 was fucking awful and such a stupidly written character.
- DirectorGareth EdwardsStarsFelicity JonesDiego LunaAlan TudykIn a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. And here's where we hit the beginning of the bottom of the barrel. I only saw Rogue One once and I was bored senseless. The characters are not developed well at all and I didn't give a crap about them when the Death Star blew them to hell. Maybe I need a re-watch, but I just remember being bored with every aspect of it. The action was not well shot and Gareth Edwards was not a good choice for directing it. The twist explaining why the Death Star had such an obvious weakness was great. But the CG Tarkin and Leia did NOT work. Again, maybe a re-watch is needed, but I have no interest to do so anytime soon.
- DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsDaisy RidleyJohn BoyegaOscar IsaacThe surviving Resistance faces the First Order once again in the conclusion of the Skywalker saga.Woof...this was such a disappointment. It's not bad from a film making level like the prequels, but the story and script are a fucking mess. 3/4 of the movie is going from planet to planet on a McGuffin chase. Other various plot decisions are just flat out bad. Palpatine coming back is the weakest cop out of a finale ever and it does not work. Rey being his grandchild is stupid. Nothing about this felt like a SW movie. It just seemed like Abram's way of undoing all the interesting stuff TLJ did and making SW boring. The resolution is not satisfying and Kylo's redemption is weak and barely a thing. A terrible ending to the trilogy and almost makes the first two worse. The production is still great and it is somewhat competently made, so it's still above the prequels.
- DirectorGeorge LucasStarsHayden ChristensenNatalie PortmanEwan McGregorThree years into the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi pursues a new threat, while Anakin Skywalker is lured by Chancellor Palpatine into a sinister plot to rule the galaxy. The best of the garbage prequels, but the best garbage is still garbage. Has good moments, Order 66 is emotional if you've seen the Clone Wars series, ObiWan is really great. So much of it is still prequel bad. Stilted dialogue, terrible acting, really bad pacing and plotting. The decent moments don't make up for this movie at all and it's really just bad.
- DirectorGeorge LucasStarsHayden ChristensenNatalie PortmanEwan McGregorTen years after initially meeting, Anakin Skywalker shares a forbidden romance with Padmé Amidala, while Obi-Wan Kenobi discovers a secret clone army crafted for the Jedi.I only rank this above Phantom Menace because I like some of the Courscant stuff. Over all this is still just another mess of a movie. Christiansen is a terrible actor and the romance is so terribly done here.
- DirectorGeorge LucasStarsEwan McGregorLiam NeesonNatalie PortmanTwo Jedi escape a hostile blockade to find allies and come across a young boy who may bring balance to the Force, but the long dormant Sith resurface to claim their original glory. What more do I need to say. Anakin is an awful actor, none of the characters have any depth, and everything makes no sense. The final duel is a great action scene, but there is no real stakes as each of the three people in it are really boring characters in this whole movie. Lucas really needed an editor or someone else to direct.
