- DirectorMitchell ReichlerBrian Michael FinnStarsCharles CasilloDana PerryIan TomaschikA haunted, broken-down psychic is being tortured with violent visions of murder. His unsettling "gift" is to see the last moments of a victim's time on earth. Now, as his visions become more intense, he knows that he is either going to die or get involved with a situation that might give him a little more time. His last obsession becomes to stop the death of at least one victim in his premonitions.Psychic/Psycho Sex Addict gets caught up in a so-called serial killer. The movie is mostly narrated by the main character, but it has all the feel of a Law & Order Criminal Intent episode, especially since the reveal is spoon-fed halfway through.
- DirectorJim MonacoStarsNick PawlowHappy GoldsplattMichael Townsend WrightDeranged projectionist Mad Ron, host Nick, and charismatic zombie Happy Goldsplatt screen a collection of horror and exploitation trailers for a theater of the undead.Secondly, I watched Mad Ron's Prevues from Hell; not so much a movie as it is 1hr22min of horror previews from the 70s and 80s. It was entertaining and it gave me tons of ideas, but it really doesn't count for the challenge so I'm already behind.
- DirectorMitchell AltieriPhil FloresStarsCory KnaufTaylor ColeBret RobertsOne night at a secluded farmhouse deep in the Northern California woods, a small group of hardened young bikers and their girlfriends are tormented when one of the girls becomes savagely possessed and a gang of "Rockabillies" seemingly from the 1950's descends upon them to collect what is growing inside her.Ok, so this is supposed to be from the same guys who gave us the remakes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween (same producers anyway). It starts off with bouncing boobs as one guy has some pretty rough sex with a girl while his two friends wait outside. Apparently they're all in a biker club called The Crew and they drive a couple hours up to a house in the woods for one of the guys' mom's 50th birthday - complete with nekkid strippers and ex-girlfriend drama. Ex-girlfriend gets possessed or something, kills her new boyfriend and the prospect. Suddenly another gang shows up and they're actually more entertaining than the people we're supposed to be rooting for... Anyhoo... spoiler - it's something about aliens... or something... I don't know and it never really gets explained beyond some rambling bit about a queen incubating...
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsJason BegheJohn PankowKate McNeilA quadriplegic man has a trained monkey help him with his paralysis, until the little monkey begins to develop feelings, and rage, against its new master.I can't believe I never watched this before! It's awesome! I totally want a little killer monkey who loves me. Ella is adorable and I just want to hug her even if she totally killed all those people in awesomely predictable ways.
- DirectorDouglas SchulzeStarsDavid CarradineRichard LynchDee WallaceFollows three generations of a curse farming community that turn to human sacrifice to appease an evil that haunts the rain.W.T.F. So in 1896, David Carradine is a farmer in the middle of a drought. The townsfolk have decided to go in with an Indian shaman who demands that they sacrifice their kids to make it rain. They kill one kid and Carradine is totally cool with it until they draw his name out of the hat and then he suddenly has some moral outrage against sacrificing one for the many.... Flash forward to 1956; a mom and her three girls are hiding out in a motel room because dad went crazy after digging up a tophat and unleashing the Indian curse on the land. Dad lures family home and then gets all creepy.... Flash forward again to modern times; a nerdy chic suddenly finds her skin cracking and fingernails peeling off. Dad calls to tell her to come home because she's sick and he's got the cure... the cure being the fact that her parents killed two of her younger brothers and want her to kill the last one. She helps him escape and dad from 1956 comes after them only to be thwarted by his only surviving daughter.... For all the flashbacks and flash forwards, it's sort of a coherent story. I wish the acting had been better. I love it when someone is supposed to be flipping out and they play it really composed instead and another character tells them to stop overreacting, lol!
- DirectorChristian AlvartStarsRenée ZellwegerIan McShaneJodelle FerlandA social worker fights to save a girl from her abusive parents, only to discover that the situation is more dangerous than she ever expected.I saw a trailer for this awhile ago and thought I should watch it, but, things being things, I never got around to it. It's actually pretty good despite Squinty Eye Joe (Renee Zellweger). SEJ(RE) is playing a CPS caseworker who snoops around and catches two parents in the act of trying to bake their daughter in an oven. Through some luck, SEJ gets custodianship of the girl and plays house... until her friends start dying, then it's all "WHAT ARE YOU?!" and barricading herself in her bedroom. I hate to say it, but this may be my #2 favorite of this challenge.
- DirectorCarl Theodor DreyerStarsJulian WestMaurice SchutzRena MandelA drifter obsessed with the supernatural stumbles upon an inn where a severely ill adolescent girl is slowly becoming a vampire.Oh my god, if I have to sit through this snooze fest ever again, I'd gladly welcome death. Half of it makes absolutely no sense at all, while the other half clings desperately to the Dracula story. Black & white mostly silent film.... Ugh.
Update: Due to the urging of others, I need to watch this again because I have absolutely no memory of watching it back in 2011. - DirectorKim Jee-woonStarsLee Byung-hunChoi Min-sikJeon Gook-hwanA secret agent exacts revenge on a serial killer through a series of captures and releases.Holy crap, if you only see one vengeance flick this month, make it "I Saw The Devil". Special agent goes after the serial killer who killed his preggers wifey. Oh jeezy petes, is it brutal! He just hammers and hammers this guy and the guy keeps getting back up and being naughty. The ending makes it easily my #1 favorite for this challenge (sorry Monkey Shines, I've got a new best friend).
- DirectorPeter Ho-Sun ChanKim Jee-woonNonzee NimibutrStarsLeon LaiKim Hye-suJeong Bo-seokAn anthology consisting of three horror shorts from different Asian directors: Memories by Kim Jee-woon, The Wheel by Nonzee Nimibutr, and Going Home by Peter Chan. They should rename this one to "Three Agonizingly Slow and Ultimately Forgetables". The first story is about a guy who sees ghost visions after his wife leaves him. The second is about cursed puppets killing an acting troupe. And the third gets slightly sidetracked - is it about a ghost girl kidnapping a cop's son or is it about a man trying to resurrect his dead wife whom he strangled three years prior? Eh... The third was the best of the bunch, but that's not saying much.
- DirectorErnest R. DickersonStarsArjay SmithBranden NadonJodelle FerlandTwo curious teenage boys break into an old mortuary looking for thrills, only to find themselves stalked by a former teacher who is a very real vampire looking to increase the ranks of the undead.Pretty standard vampire flick with some family drama thrown in for kicks. The ending was kind of cheesy. Two teenagers go to a funeral home to see a dead body, but end up finding a vampire. Hijinks ensue.
- DirectorPatrick HorvathStarsJoshua GroteLiesel KoppParker QuinnKen is a wandering and unassuming serial killer who enters a forsaken and empty diner during the graveyard shift. After a long conversation with the diner's lone waitress Rose, Ken kills her and promptly delivers the same fate to the diner's cook Fred. As Ken cleans up the bloody mess and deposits Rose and Fred in the walk-in freezer, company arrives. A young, unhappy married couple Rob and Kathy stop by the diner only to be followed by the arrival of Sheriff Duke Purdett. Ken now finds himself in the middle of a rousing game of cat and mouse which he manages well until the unthinkable happens. Back from the dead, Rose and Fred emerge from the freezer and start walking around! Once an unflappable serial killer, Ken now holds the young couple and wounded sheriff captive, trying frantically to escape the zombie predators. The fact that the people who made this movie felt the need to write "(get it?)" underneath the title says a lot. I wasn't expecting cinematic gold here; I figured the movie would be good for some fast-paced laughs and I was crossing my fingers that the acting wouldn't be that terrible. Turns out, the movie could be someone's home video for how polished it was - the audio and soundtrack sometimes battle for predominance. The characters are sort of hohum and the zombies don't conform to any zombie standard. The main character (the serial killer) seems like he was told to try to be Edward Norton circa every movie where he talks a lot (aka, every movie he's ever done); however, he does have most of the best lines.
- DirectorAdam FieldsStarsAmber BensonJason GrahamCharles NapierA hostile alien wreaks havoc on the cast and crew of an adult movie.Like I said, I think Ron Jeremy is supplementing his porn and reality tv money with bad horror movie money - and this movie. Almost as bad as Andre the Butcher, One Eyed Monster is about a porn cast going up into the mountains during a blizzard when Ron Jeremy's penis gets possessed by a horny alien. It rips free of him and then starts sexxing everyone to death. I liked the "circumcize it to oblivion...with an axe!" quote, but I think the scene that rips on Independence Day is even better (the tech-geek is barricaded in the kitchen and gets attacked. Immediately after being attacked, he appears in the window of the door begging to be let in and they almost let him in except for the oh-so-smart lighting guy who tells them that the tech-geek is being controlled. "It's in his ass...controlling him.") Horrible and not quite as funny as I thought it would be considering the premise... but ok.
- DirectorDaniel StammStarsPatrick FabianAshley BellIris BahrA troubled evangelical minister agrees to let his last exorcism be filmed by a documentary crew.Holy cripes! The Last Exorcism ending!! It's Blair Witch Project creepy (screaming people being chased). I like exorcism movies and I can usually find an element or two in even a bad one to scare myself, but this was scary enough on its own! Creepy girl.....
Second gen pastor brings a camera crew along as he tries to debunk the validity of exorcisms (the stuff that pays for his son's medical procedures). Anyhoo, so he randomly chooses a letter and fails to read it before taking off to somewhere in New Orleans where a family is dealing with a possessed daughter who's killing live stock. When they get there, the charlatan shows off how he's going to fool the family into thinking there's a demon and that he's vanquished it. He performs a hoaky exorcism that's more schlock than anything and prepares to leave when she starts showing some very big signs of possession. Long story short, there's a huge twist at the end that I totally didn't see coming.... Very decent scary flick. - DirectorManuel CarballoStarsSophie VavasseurStephen BillingtonRichard FelixA family allows their young daughter's exorcism to be recorded secretly. The beginning is told in flashes throughout the movie as the reveal slowly unfolds. It's about a British teenage punk girl who cuts her hand with a mirror shard and calls the Devil. She convinces her family to get her uncle to come over and perform ritual exorcisms on her while videotaping it. The reveal is pretty predictable and there's not much to the twist, but it's way better than the Annaliese story that all of these films are supposed to be based on.
- DirectorJordan DowneyStarsWanda LustNatasha CordovaLindsey AndersonA homicidal turkey axes off college kids during Thanksgiving break. We have company over tonight and felt the need to show them this cheesy B-creature feature. This is a rewatch for me so it doesn't technically count. A necromanced turkey tries to take out the cool kids. Best quote deals with an extra small gravy flavored condom and "you got stuffed, bitch!" and "gobble gobble mother *beep*
- DirectorLuca BercoviciStarsPeter LiapisLisa PelikanMichael Des BarresA young man and his girlfriend move into an old mansion home, where he becomes possessed by a desire to control ancient demons.80s horror films are the best, hands down. They've got it all - gory deaths, bad acting, cheesy special effects, and a wild premise. What other decade can boast about killer puppets from Hell and two matching Hell midget minions?! A guy who's way too old to really be a college kid inherits his father's mansion and discovers that his parents were into Satanic rituals (the fact that his dad killed his mom during a failed attempt to sacrifice him as a baby doesn't get mentioned anywhere). So, becoming more and more obsessed with the rituals, he manipulates his friends and girlfriend into doing the rituals with him and he creates all these little Hellspawn minions. Best minions go to the matching midgets, no contest. Anyhoo, all this magicking wakes up daddy from his obviously Satanic grave (does no one know what a pentagram is anymore?). Hijinks ensue and then it's a staring contest...to the DEATH!.... yikes!
- DirectorRenny HarlinStarsStellan SkarsgårdIzabella ScorupcoJames D'ArcyIn 1947, having abandoned his faith, Father Merrin joins an archaeological excavation in Kenya, where an ancient church has been unearthed and something much older waits to be awoken. The Exorcist had more scares by far. This is just a boring excuse for a prequel that doesn't even really do the original any justice. A priest who carries residual WWII guilt loses faith and becomes an archaeologist in a small African village. Another priest joins him as a missionary and discovers that the most hated guy in the village is actually possessed by Satan. The set design was actually pretty good and I was excited when they showed all the detail that went into the church of St Michael and the pagan temple underneathe it (the fact that they're digging up this church is what leads to the possession in the first place). Kudos, set designer, kudos.
- DirectorRichard BlackburnStarsLesley TaplinCheryl SmithWilliam WhittonA young girl who returns to her hometown to see her dying father finds herself being drawn into a web of vampirism and witchcraft.14min in - "it should be entitled "A Child in a City of Pedophiles" for how many people make inappropriate comments about a 13yr old...."
The whole idea is that Lemora, a very obvious vampire, sees little Lila Lee's portrait in the paper carried by her gangster father and becomes so lovestruck by the prepubescent girl that she cooks up a scheme to get Lila to her town. Unfortunately for Lemora, everybody and their mom tries to chat Lila up on her way there so she's so done with thinly veiled pick-up lines that she doesn't immediately fall for Lemora. Shucks! So, after being chased through the woods by zombie animal people and scared by a creepy witch woman, she finally figures out what Lemora is and, of course, being a good Christian girl, she wants nothing to do with the kinky lesbian vampire who's old enough to be her grandmother several times over. It's an average length film, but it seems almost like a short for how fast it moves. Despite excellent pacing, the acting is sort of spotty and there's an ever present sense of creep as everyone perverts all over this kid... For those who actually care, the actress was 18yrs old when she played the role and there is a nipple shot in one of the scenes for half a second. - DirectorJohn CarpenterStarsKurt RussellWilford BrimleyKeith DavidA research team in Antarctica is hunted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of its victims.I was exhausted last night so I don't think I got the full amount of enjoyment out of this film, but it was pretty good. Alien crash lands on Earth and is buried for 100,000 years in the ice until some Norwegians blast it out along with a frozen alien. The movie starts with the Nords in a helicopter, shooting at a dog that's running in the snow. Dog is revealed to be an alien capable of ingesting living material and imitating that material perfectly. Rather than stay a dog, it starts replicating the people in the research base. This fact is discovered early and everyone starts to suspect each other of being an alien. Of course, paranoia and panic sets in and people try to escape or defend themselves... hijinks. I sort of dozed off at the end, but it was a decent creature feature. Monster seemed plausible and the acting was consistent, if not just a tad wooden in some cases.
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsJason FlemyngPeter StormareLeslie HopeAfter years of being tread upon and cheated on, a man awakens to find his face has a been replaced by a blank, white mask.Ad man Henry Creedlow is screwed over by almost everyone he knows - his wife's dog torments him, his wife hates him and is cheating on him with his boss who is a crude jackass, his maid robs him, and his best friend is stealing money from him. And yet, he lets them deceive and mistreat him despite daytime fantasies of violence. After a party where he catches his wife jerking off his boss, he wakes up to find that his face has been replaced by a white featureless mask. He goes about a killing spree, taking out anyone who had ever wronged him in the past or present. For those animal lovers out there concerned about watching a movie with a bastard pet, the dog survives.
Despite the fact that it was filmed in 2000, the movie feels like it would've been at home with all the 90s horror movies. Not terribly creative and with acting that is sometimes over the top, it does a good job at making you want to cheer for the underdog when he finally fights back... - DirectorAdam GieraschStarsTatyana KanavkaMichael ArataShannon ElizabethA group of kids go to a Halloween party, only to have to face down a group of demons.Angela's Halloween party gets shut down before it can really begin and the police escort everyone out. However, a few people come back looking for a lost friend and they all get trapped in the haunted house. Edward Furlong is looking very old and bloated in this flick, playing a small-time drug dealer who is indebted to a Russian drug dealer. Together they discover a secret room with skeletons laying all in a circle. Rather than call the cops (no signal), they play Spin the Bottle after Angela gets a skeleton bite trying to steal a gold tooth. Hilarity ensues as Demonic Angela kills her friends and other demons possess their bodies. There are a lot of cheesy laughs and just a few gory scenes that are very entertaining. It's definitely a B-grade horror movie for me.
- DirectorDave ParkerStarsEric ClawsonJamie DonahueBrett BeardsleeWhen a renegade band of young filmmakers break into an abandoned hospital to make their horror epic, they stumble upon a real dead body and decide to use it in their movie. They accidentally bring it back to life, open a portal to a dead world that releases dozens of other zombies, then struggle for their lives in a desperate attempt to flee from the creatures who apparently have them hopelessly trapped in the hospital.A small-budget movie crew and cast break into an abandoned asylum and begin shooting a zombie film. When the actors go wandering, they find that the asylum is not so abandoned as it's being used for some experiment. They stumble upon a dead body and decide to use it in their film, turning on a coffin-shaped machine on camera and unleashing super zombies and a Rob Zombie lookalike. It's gory and ridiculous all at the same time
- DirectorStuart GordonStarsEzra GoddenCampbell LaneJay BrazeauA graduate student questions his sanity after he rents a room in an old boarding house which was the residence of a 17th-century witch, and he discovers that the evil forces still roam within the walls.Good pace, decent acting, and a pretty cool concept, I can see why it was a recommendation. College kid studying physics needs a quiet place to think so he rents a room in a dilapidated house. He immediately makes friends with the single mom next door and all is well until he falls asleep and dreams of rats with human faces who tell him that "she" is coming for him. Definitely a good watch as it's one of the better offerings from MoH.
- DirectorAdam MatalonStarsJerry BroomeSuzannah Lawson MatalonBridget Megan ClarkTwenty years ago Sean McIntyre murdered his family then hung himself on Thanksgiving day. For tonight's webcast he's just warming up.I'm getting really sick of bad acting; I can see why people are sort of cheating and watching previously seen horror movies rather than making all 31 movies first time views. This one was just painful!
It's a ghost story centered around a mountain climber who goes crazy and kills his family. Fast forward 50yrs, 5 college kids and a porn star (along with the tech guy and the producer) spend Halloween night in the house after performing a seance and calling the spirit of the father back. Of course he arrives and hijinks ensue as he hunts them down one by one.
I'll give a pass to the kids in the flashback - they at least tried even if their screaming was less than convincing. In fact, I think the flashback scene was the best part of the movie. Two of the main characters are football players who hate each other and whose girlfriends hate each other. The fifth chic is a stereotypical goth lesbian who gets paired up with the porn star. There's a running gag about how the stupid football player can't stay hard and he consistently misses the pacing of his lines and overacts them, shouting and overemphasizing every other word. It's just... really bad... He's the worst of the bunch, but the main chic contorts her face every other scene as she feels a "presence" in the room and demands to go home. Just avoid this one. - DirectorBrett William MauserStarsBradley BatesKimberly Lynn CampbellSergio CantuWhen the rabbit kills the wife of the city's most powerful crime lord, a trap is set to finish off the rabbit once and for all. The rabbit finds himself in hell, face to face with the mother of demons who grants him immortality. This may be my favorite movie of the bunch - not because it's good, but because it's supposed to be bad. A guy dressed up in an Easter Bunny costume kills people with an X-Men Wolverine claw. I've explained certain scenes to several people and we've all just cracked up - it's hilarious. The Rabbit chases a woman down after killing all her friends and she finds help with a police officer whose partner was killed by the Serial Rabbit. He tells her to stay in a well populated area so she goes to a rave - the Rabbit follows her and kills all the people at the concert to the beat of the music. Meanwhile, the mob boss husband of one of Serial Rabbit's earlier kills puts a hit out on the Rabbit and a split personality hitman takes the job.Ok, so this movie isn't going to win any awards - it's not tying to be anything other than a silly slasher horror movie about a guy in an Easter Bunny costume. It's just sort of refreshing to watch this after watching so many movies where they're actually trying to act and failing horribly.
- DirectorLucifer ValentineStarsAmeara LaveyPig LizzyMaja LeeThe gruesome tapestry of psychological manifestations of a nineteen year old bulimic runaway stripper-turned prostitute as she descends into a hellish pit of satanic nightmares and hallucinations.Eff this "movie" and it's *beep* summary.
Here's the movie I wanted to watch: a girl who is abused by her parents and molested by her priest sells her soul to the Devil to get vengeance on those who harmed her. Sounds decent, right? Possibly bad, but at least it's got a good story premise.
Here's the "movie" I got: bits of film are repeated over and over in slow motion and backward. Here's a blonde girl singing a song into a camera, here's a blonde prostitute talking into a camera telling someone she'd die or kill for him, here's a girl sleeping on a mattress, here's a bunch of quick cuts of bloody faces and women screaming, girl sleeping again, naked woman getting choked, girl sleeping again, prostitute introducing herself in slow motion, girl singing in slow motion, naked blonde woman saying that she gives her soul to Satan, girl singing in slow motion backwards, prostitute giving her prices in slow motion, woman puking blood into a toilet........ and on and on for a little over an hour. The best part of this film is that it ends after only 60-ish minutes. There is absolutely no storyline whatsoever. It's a disjointed exploitation movie since the woman is naked most of the 60 minutes. I knew it was going to be bad going in - the director named himself Lucifer Valentine and the star actress is Ameara LaVey (as in Anton LaVey who wrote the Satanic Bible). Ugh, just seriously avoid. There's nothing in this movie that works. - DirectorMichael GoiStarsAmber PerkinsRachel QuinnDean WaiteTwo teenage girls encounter an Internet child predator.I watched this on recommendation and I really wanted to just fast forward through half the movie. This "based on actual events" story centers around 14yr old partygirl Megan and her mousey 13yr old bestfriend Amy. For half the movie, it's just Megan making bad decisions and getting screamed at by her mom while Amy hates on herself despite her parents' praise. Eventually, Megan decides to meet "Josh", a guy off the internet who seems creepy, but she thinks he's perfect. Megan disappears and honestly, the only good scenes are where they show pictures that surface on an internet site and when we see where Megan ends up. Amy, playing with her video camera birthday present, goes to all the places she and Megan used to like and gets kidnapped. We get to watch as she's mistreated by an unknown assailant. We know all this is going to eventually happen considering the fact that the text over in the very beginning describes how Megan disappeared and then Amy followed.
My whole issue with the movie is the logic issue - the movie takes place in 2007-2008 which means that they've probably been inundated with the message that it's not okay to meet people alone because kids have died. Therefore, there would be some natural suspicion on both Megan and Amy's part when Josh didn't show himself at the party. Plus, he's got a big head of bleach blonde hair in his picture so, if she couldn't find him after looking for 4hrs, it most likely means that he gave her a fake picture. Both girls just accept whatever they're told and it's bogus. - DirectorFranklin Guerrero Jr.StarsNatasha Charles ParkerErik FonesMatt CarmodyBased on a true story, Carver depicts the real life events of five 20-something's that went camping in the mountain town of Halcyon Ridge and never returned.Standard slasher flick - friends go into the woods to camp, stumble upon homemade movies in a shack and think they're low budget horror films only to find out that the star of these films is actually a killer. Ho hum - another movie I wanted to fast forward through, but stuck with instead thanks to this challenge.
- DirectorJennifer LynchStarsMallika SherawatIrrfan KhanJeff DoucetteBased on the Far Eastern myth of the snake woman who is able to take on human form. There's two storylines here - rich old white man dying of brain cancer steals the Snake Goddess' lover and holds him for ransom so the SG will give him a stone that grants immortality. That part is actually a part of India's folklore. Then there's the story of the cop and his wife who are trying to conceive. Female snake turns into SG and goes after a whole bunch of evil doers while the cop investigates all the murders, refusing to believe in SG and preferring to believe there's a murderer going around poisoning and digesting all his victims. The CGI is very good as well as the makeup effects; the snakes are very obviously rubber and there's a weird snake sex scene, but it all works. Over all, a very good creature feature. 4 more to go....
- DirectorScott GlossermanStarsNathan BaeselAngela GoethalsZelda RubinsteinThe next great killer and psychopath has given a documentary film crew exclusive access to his life as he plans his reign of terror over the quiet town of Glen Echo.A college camera crew follows a serial murderer as he plots his next killing spree. The twist is predictable but good even if it is flawed -- how did Leslie know that the college kids wouldn't just drive off and leave him to kill all those kids? Either way, I like these types of slasher flicks (there's at least two other films which have a camera crew following around a serial killer as he maps out his process) as they're sort of a different take on the genre.
- DirectorYûichi SatôStarsTetsuji TamayamaAsami MizukawaMitsuyoshi ShinodaTwo people kidnap a girl, hoping for a ransom.Foreign film - two kidnappers find that the girl they've kidnapped has been dead for a year and something's stalking their group in an abandoned elementary school. Despite the female lead being somewhat screechy every 5min or so, this was a fairly decent ghost flick beyond the fact that it didn't show the stereotypical Asian ghost girl anywhere. Instead, there are a lot of cut scenes and flashbacks that don't make any sense until the end. Not the best, but far from the worst.
- DirectorHiroki YamaguchiStarsLuchino FujisakiYoshiichi KawadaRyôsuke KoshibaOne elevator, one girl who can read minds and one floor where the elevator should have never stopped: the ideal ingredients for a classic piece of weird horror. In the claustrophobic space of the elevator, a bunch of screwed up psychos who board halfway through produce absolute madness and mayhem on every square inch.Set in futuristic Japan where everyone lives on levels that are navigated by elevators that are more like trains. The Security Administration Bureau watches everyone, but that doesn't seem to stop anyone from being naughty. The characters are ho hum and there isn't much to scare you besides possibly some rather awful acting.
- DirectorKevin SmithStarsMichael ParksMelissa LeoJohn GoodmanSet in Middle America, a group of teens receive an online invitation for sex, though they soon encounter fundamentalists with a much more sinister agenda.I saw a trailer for this a long time ago and forgot to put it in my queue. Kevin Smith wrote and directed this rather cheap shot at the Westboro Baptist Church. Three teenage boys go in search of some easy sex and get wrapped up in a family's religious fervor as they kill off anyone they think is corrupting mankind. The first part of the movie is pretty standard horror fare, but then John Goodman and Kevin Pollack show up and inject some much needed situational comedy. It's actually pretty good and very similar to early Kevin Smith.
- DirectorDan LantzStarsAlexis TexasJanice MarieAdam DanoffA military weapons manufacturer creates a chemical weapon that causes victims to become blood-lusting killers. A lab accident causes the building to go into lock-down and the employees are trapped inside with the crazed killers.I overshot here and thought this was #31. Oh well; Bloodlust Zombies is a low budget zombie movie dealing with an accidental chemical spill in an office building. All the characters are stereotypes and the story isn't anything we haven't seen before. As far as quality, it's pretty much middle of the road - some have done it better while others have done it considerably worse.
