After the Purple Wedding...Now What?1 of 10
Everybody hates Joffrey. In fact, we can't think of another television character that people love to hate as much as "Game of Thrones'" cruel, whiny, cowardly, self-involved, bloodthirsty boy king.
We come here not to bury Joffrey, but to praise the young man who portrayed him, Jack Gleeson. If you detest Joffrey Baratheon with a red-hot passion, credit is due not only the show's producers (and author George R.R. Martin ) but to Gleeson, the 21-year-old actor behind that blood pressure-elevating sneer.
Fortunately Gleeson had a lot to work with in order to develop Joffrey into the sniveling, pompous, short-sighted, inbred ruler who made millions dream of lining up to slap him for 10 minutes straight.
Joffrey's crimes were many, not the least of which included filling Kings Landing's most popular hooker with crossbow bolts -- you know, just because.
However, the ocean of dislike for Joffrey began boiling long before that, when the kid ordered the beheading of honorable, super-cool good guy Ned Stark (Sean Bean) -- you know, just because.
