They establish a strong psychic bond and connection when Miss Martian helps to restore Superboy’s memories after the Team gains amnesia and together they defeat Miss Martian's nemesis, Psimon. The reason Superboy ended their romantic relationship was because of how Miss Martian was abusing her powers, while she believes her actions to be justified. Miss Martian explains the only reason they were dating was because he made her better about herself after everything she did throughout the season and admits he was nothing more than her rebound boyfriend.
Although she denies his claims, it’s also revealed that one of the main reasons Miss Martian is breaking up with Lagoon Boy is also because she has also finally realized that she is still in love with Superboy and hopes to reconcile and renew their relationship. However, she is saddened to learn that he has apparently started dating Wendy Harris and believes she may have missed her chance.
