- DirectorLuc BessonStarsJean RenoGary OldmanNatalie Portman12-year-old Mathilda is reluctantly taken in by Léon, a professional assassin, after her family is murdered. An unusual relationship forms as she becomes his protégée and learns the assassin's trade. After seeing this movie I watched it two times after. I have probably seen this movie well over a hundred plus times. Great story, amazing acting, and the cast will most likely make you a bonafide Gary Oldman fan. Oh and the climax is perhaps the best SWAT scene ever.
- DirectorBarry LevinsonStarsRobin WilliamsForest WhitakerTom T. TranIn 1965, an unorthodox and irreverent DJ named Adrian Cronauer begins to shake up things when he is assigned to the U.S. Armed Services radio station in Vietnam.Saw this movie before I was 10 and broke 2 VHS' of it for watching it over and over. Perhaps the greatest combination of: History, Comedy, and Drama. Not to mention it really shows how great an actor Robin Williams is.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsGuy PearceCarrie-Anne MossJoe PantolianoA man with short-term memory loss attempts to track down his wife's murderer.I don't think a single IMDb list exists without this movie. An original way to film a movie, an amazing story and character to follow, and impossible to watch just once. A movie that will become a classic and hallmark of 20th century films.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsBrad PittEdward NortonMeat LoafAn insomniac office worker and a devil-may-care soap maker form an underground fight club that evolves into much more.Speaking of Fight Club. A classic and cult classic all at once. This film is based on and very faithful to the book of the same name. It's not a movie about physical violence, but more so about human psychological violence. A stunning cast and makes you wish Pitt and Norton would team up for every movie.
- DirectorOren PeliStarsKatie FeatherstonMicah SloatMark FredrichsAfter moving into a suburban home, a couple becomes increasingly disturbed by a nightly demonic presence.I love this movie and watch it over and over simply to see what else I can catch. People either love it or hate it. If you're jaded by movies like this, then you'll hate it. But if you're open minded, you will watch this over and over.
- DirectorAnthony MinghellaStarsMatt DamonGwyneth PaltrowJude LawIn late 1950s New York, a young underachiever named Tom Ripley is sent to Italy to retrieve Dickie Greenleaf, a rich and spoiled millionaire playboy. But when the errand fails, Ripley takes extreme measures.I am famous amongst my friends for not being a fan of Matt Damon, but I seriously have no reason, since he is a phenomenal actor. And this movie is one of his break throughs. The movie is loosely based on the book and brings forth a troubled, but clever youth named Ripley who is sent over seas to retrieve a playboy son of a rich father. The movie has amazing twists and turns and will have you on edge. Warning though, the movie starts slow and doesn't really explain itself, but you'll get a solid grip when a single scene unfolds.
- DirectorJaume BalagueróPaco PlazaStarsManuela VelascoFerran TerrazaJorge-Yamam SerranoA television reporter and cameraman follow emergency workers into a dark apartment building and are quickly locked inside with something terrifying. This movie must be watched with subtitles and not dubbed (if it's even available). The foriegn horror thriller is what inspired the shoddy American remake Quarantine. Rec has an amazing story with phenomenal acting from actors and actresses you never seen before. Want to see a movie that tempts a shadowy explanation of 'zombies'? Watch this now! And watch it over and over!
- DirectorTony ScottStarsChristian SlaterPatricia ArquetteDennis HopperIn Detroit, a pop-culture nerd steals cocaine from his new wife's pimp and tries to sell it in Hollywood, prompting the mobsters who own the drugs to pursue the couple. Here is Tarantino's first screenplay to be taken to the screen. It is perhaps his greatest screenplay. It surprisingly hosts a hit cast, and I'm not talking about Slater. Even if you hate looking at Christian Slater's face, you will fall in love with the story and how it unfolds. I have spread this movie amongst my friends like a virus.
- DirectorWoody AllenStarsScarlett JohanssonJonathan Rhys MeyersEmily MortimerAt a turning point in his life, a former tennis pro falls for an actress who happens to be dating his friend and soon-to-be brother-in-law.I was forced to watch this movie, not trusting it to be anything but a stupified chick flick. It turned out to be a great drama with amazing twist and turns. It won't have huge effects like perhaps Fight Club did, but it will make you want to get your friends to watch it again with you.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsJohn TravoltaUma ThurmanSamuel L. JacksonThe lives of two mob hitmen, a boxer, a gangster and his wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption.Perhaps Tarantino's most popular film. I watch this film for the quotes and to continue digesting the pound for pound information that is released in every bungled chapter in the movie. And having the all-star cast only polishes this already great script and story.
- DirectorFrank DarabontStarsTim RobbinsMorgan FreemanBob GuntonOver the course of several years, two convicts form a friendship, seeking consolation and, eventually, redemption through basic compassion. This movie is loosely based on a Stephen King story that stars Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. I don't know that many people that have not seen this movie and on top of that, I don't know many people who have not purchased a vhs, dvd, and bluray of the movie. It's a motivating story that you will want to watch over and over simply for the twist.
- DirectorGus Van SantStarsRobin WilliamsMatt DamonBen AffleckWill Hunting, a janitor at M.I.T., has a gift for mathematics, but needs help from a psychologist to find direction in his life. This is an amazing movie that has no twists or turns. It's a face first dive into the life of a prodigy child, raised in the rough streets. You will be inspired by the acting and story portrayed by the Damon and Williams combo.
- DirectorBarry LevinsonStarsDustin HoffmanTom CruiseValeria GolinoAfter a selfish L.A. yuppie learns his estranged father left a fortune to an autistic-savant brother in Ohio that he didn't know existed, he absconds with his brother and sets out across the country, hoping to gain a larger inheritance. This is a fun drama with Cruise playing a rich playboy with Hoffman as a brother he never knew he had. It's a story about the two opposites meeting and finding a way to cope in this simple story given dramatic complications and phenomenal acting.
- DirectorBoaz YakinStarsDenzel WashingtonWill PattonWood HarrisIn 1971 Virginia high school football was everything to the people of Alexandria. But when the school board was forced to integrate an all-black school with an all-white one, the very foundation of football's tradition was put to the test.Denzel plays head coach in this historical drama about one of the first highschool football teams with blacks and whites playing together. This movie comes with many emotions and some great football action you will always want to watch when it's on.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsRobert De NiroSharon StoneJoe PesciIn Las Vegas, two best friends - a casino executive and a mafia enforcer - compete for a gambling empire and a fast-living, fast-loving socialite. No list would be adequate without a Scorsese film. Now this is not his most popular film, but I have always had a strong interest with it due to it involving Las Vegas and how it came to be. I love watching this movie because there is so much going on in it and has enough gangster rough housing to keep the people who prefer Good Fellas to stay and watch. And watch over and over.
