- June, 1941. A small Russian village at the border is living its everyday life - people work, love, squabble, make plans for the future. The war changes all plans, tears families apart, the first victims fall... Some Russian straggling soldiers who managed to stay alive after the first onslaught of the German army make their own war, some of the locals joining them to avenge their murdered relatives and to fight for their native land. The villagers are rent between the threats and executions introduced by the German invaders for helping the guerrillas and the necessity to help these guerrillas who are of their own flesh and blood. German repressions meet stubborn resistance. Walter, a German lieutenant, feels that the tactics of repression are wrong, but his superiors do not understand him. Walter falls in love with a local peasant girl, Dasha, but for Dasha only one man exists - Grigory, head of the local guerrillas. Grigory in his turn is married to Alyona, but not of his won accord. Alyona knows nothing about Grigory's fate after the war begins, and helps a wounded Russian soldier hiding him from the Germans... How will the war cut all these knots?

Ruslan has long had a crush on her; her heart is still sleeping, but love with catch her unexpectedly. On the threshold of the scheduled elections and the unregulated market where Alexandra works is dispersed and transformed into tribune for numerous parties. Among the parties appears Andrey Marchuk, right hand of a renowned magnate Vladimir Privalov. Andrey has been secretly dating Marina Sokhatska, daughter of his teacher and benefactor's bitter enemy, for six months. If Andrey hadn't met Alexandra for the second time, his life would have been different. Hostility between two clans and his own problems caused by that would have remained the biggest trouble in his life. However, destiny brings them together. One flash of romance and their feelings start to grow, although silly, illogically, but like the wind. After a while, they spend one night together. Andrey, a decent man, keeps his promise and marries Marina; this hits Alexandra like a mountain of bricks. Nevertheless, Andrey and Ruslan go on fighting for her heart. Marina's manipulative intrigues end up with Alexandra being accused in murderous assault and sentenced to prison. Only upon request of Vladimir Privalov the girl is given freedom. Why does Privalov ask for Alexandra? Because by then he has learned that she is his illegitimate daughter. Alexandra is about to go through considerable life severities and disappointments before she finally gains happiness, builds family, and finds true love.
