- Yes, Dear is a comedy about two young couples and their outrageously contrasting views on parenting.
- Jimmy and Greg's father-in-law plan to go ice fishing, but Jimmy hurts his back. Greg is talked into going with him. Kim house sits for a friend; Kim and Christine go to check the house and stay to enjoy the luxuries.
- Greg's parents and Kim's parents visit for Christmas. The idea of "A and B grandparents" is introduced causing Greg to force his parents to spend more time with Sam so that they will not become the "B" grandparents.
- At the studio, a piano almost falls on Jimmy. After escaping death, Jimmy goes through his box of "stuff" and finds a list of items he wanted to achieve when he got older. He begins to try accomplishing items still to do.

- Kim's father visits. When he sees the sleeve guards Kim created, he convinces her to sell at a craft fair. Jimmy plays on a security guard baseball team, and wants Christine and Dominic to watch the game.
- Sammy starts being aggressive towards other children. Kim & Greg start reading books to find solutions. Jimmy say the way to cure it is to have a bigger kid pick on Sammy.
- A friend brings some barbecue and everyone agrees it is delicious. Greg wants to buy more, but the restaurant is in the hood. Greg overcomes his fear and goes to buy some. When Greg runs late, Jimmy is afraid. Greg plays a trick on him.
- Jimmy auditions for the Big Brother TV show and is accepted. The other contestants love him. Greg wants him to win so he gets enough money to move out of Greg's home. Meanwhile, the house is calmer without Jimmy around.
- Jimmy's father visits. Big Jimmy offers to take all the children to a park but Christine, Greg & Kim do not think he is responsible enough. They arrange for a babysitter to go with Big Jimmy and the children.
- Greg lost his job at the movie studio and is depressed. Meanwhile Kim finds a damaged wall in the house which reveals water damage and mold. The Warners have to stay with the Hughes while the house is being repaired.
- Greg decides to go to a gym, but does not do well with the machines and weights. Jimmy helps him to get in shape. Kim and Christine put their children in a Mom's Morning Out program; Kim starts freelance so Christine decides to get a job.
- Kim invites friends of hers and Christine's over, but does not want Christine & Jimmy to be there. Christine is upset and crashes the Warner's dinner. Since one of the friends is a marriage counselor, he tries to help the two couples.
- Jimmy and Dominic joins a father/son Indian scout group. Jimmy's humor does not go over well with the group, and he does not enjoy the activities. Greg used to be an Indian scout and helps Dominic. He then takes over other fatherly duties.
- Kim and Greg go to a Marriage Encounter Weekend. With Christine & Jimmy at home, there is a message on the answering machine about an aunt dying. Jimmy tells Greg and he is happy to leave the encounter even though it is not his aunt.
- Kim & Greg are upset to learn that Sammy's pediatrician has retired and sold his practice to another doctor. When they find out he is extremely young, they decide to find other choices. But then Sammy gets something stuck up his noise.
- When Jimmy finds out Dominic has been picking on a boy at school, he tells Dominic to be friends with him. As the boys play together, Dominic becomes more like Ronnie instead of Ronnie becoming more like Dominic.
- Dominic is 10 and going on his first date. Jimmy & Christine have different opinions on how to prepare him. Meanwhile, Kim has a box of personal items she wants Greg to burn when she dies; now he is curious and wants to read the letters.
- Kim and Christine's father comes to visit. The father gets along great with Jimmy, but not with Greg. Jimmy can get away with saying anything and the father does not get upset. With Greg, things don't always go well.
- Sammy and Logan start nursery school. The lead teacher shows preference for Sammy and ignores Logan. Christine thinks it is because Kim sends in brownies, cookies, and sandwiches. They are all surprised when they find out the real reason.
- A gorgeous, sexy woman starts working with Greg and starts flirting with him. No one believes that she is coming on to Greg. Greg is upset that she seems to have a lot of responsibilities and power for a new employee.
- A squirrel is living in the backyard, bringing peanuts. With Sammy allergic to peanuts, Greg tries to get rid of the squirrel.
- Greg gets tickets for the jazz festival and no one wants to go with him. The others try to find Greg a friend to go with to the festival. Greg meets a cool guy and strikes up a friendship, but Greg finds he cannot keep up with cool guy.
- Greg's boss agreed to mentor a convict at a work release program. Mr. Savitsky then passes the task to Greg who passes it to Jimmy. Jimmy has fun, so Greg gets another convict to mentor. As the four of them bond, things backfire.
- Greg's birthday is coming up, and Kim wants the family to go to Disney Land. Jimmy talks Greg into partying like when they were young. Greg and Jimmy go out, but partying is different when you are older.
- Kim goes to a Mommy & Me group and meets a woman who she enjoys. Greg & Kim get together with Andrea and Alan. Alan treats Greg rudely.
- Christine is smoking again and tries to stop. Greg is up for a promotion against another person. Jimmy plays on Greg's company baseball team and helps to win the game; Greg gets the promotion and Jimmy thinks he helped him get it.
- Greg is accidentally trapped into a family trip to Kim and Christine's parents. The mother does not like Jimmy and loves Greg. The house is too hot, the attention too intense, the requests over the top.
- Jimmy has a game of poker with other security guards and Greg feels left out. Christine tells Jimmy to invite Greg to join in the game. Greg joins, but finds the familiarity with security guards from his work a bit unnerving.
- Kim and Greg go to Greg's parents for Thanksgiving. Jimmy invites his parents to his place for Thanksgiving who also brings aunt, grandmother and a cousin who has been in prison. Things go downhill from here for Jimmy & Christine.
- It's Halloween. While Trick and Treating, a neighbor in costume scares Sammy; Greg and Kim are annoyed and plan to seek revenge. Kim wants to write a letter to scare him. Jimmy and Christine suggest a different method.
- Logan learns to read before Sammy. While Greg & Kim worry, Jimmy & Christine each feel they are responsible for his delay. When they watched Sammy when he was young, they were not always careful and Sammy's head got bumped a few times.
- Greg goes with Kim, Christine, and Jimmy to their high school reunion. Greg gets mistaken for a cool kid that attended the school; he enjoys the popularity. Jimmy gets jealous because he was always the coolest kid in school.
- Greg reluctantly takes two week paternity leave to help Kim with Emily. He keeps wanting to go back to work. Meanwhile, Jimmy realizes he has to use up sick leave days or loose them.
- Greg's parents visit. Since his father's retirement, he has taken to collecting comic books and dressing up as a super hero.
- Christine tells Jimmy no need for a gift for Valentines Day. She gets Jimmy a card, but does not like the one he got for her. She wants him to be more romantic.
- Greg purchases a new car - an impracticable convertible. Jimmy's parents visit with memorabilia from his deceased grandmother. The parents want Jimmy to move back to their home.
- Jimmy's father visits. Jimmy gets four tickets for the baseball fan expo. Jimmy does not want the father to lie to Dominic about teaching Johnny Bench to hit in the minor league. Turns out the father did help the baseball teams.
- Five year old Sammy has a girl friend. Kim arranges a play date for them. It is not so much fun when Claire and Logan start to play together. Greg & Kim try to make Sammy seem more attractive to Claire again. The competition is on!
- When Kim finds out Christine and Jimmy are not having a birthday party for Dominic's birthday, she has one for him. Jimmy gets a security guard job where Greg works at the movie studio and invites the Greg's boss to the party.
- Jimmy feels tired, sweaty, and uninterested in sex. His doctor tells him he has male menopause. Jimmy gets some antibiotics and feels less than a man.
- Jimmy catches an intruder in Heidi Klums' trailer, and then is called a hero. Greg is addicted to nasal spray and Kim takes steps to stop him from using it.
