- Tôyama, a weak-willed businessman, is in debt to the Yakuza; they also have a video of him bribing a government minister. To clear his debts, he agrees to let them drug and kidnap his wife Shizuko, Japan's queen of the tango, and subject her to the proclivities of a 95-year-old voyeur, who's a Yakuza boss. After a masked ball, Shizuko is taken prisoner; she fights her captors, submitting only when the life of Kyôko, her female bodyguard, is threatened. Tôyama feels regret and seeks to buy back Shizuko, but by this time, she may be enjoying her situation. Is she, or is she pretending in order to protect herself and Kyôko? Would she want a way out if there is one?
- Rina is the it girl. She is thin, has long hair, is flaunting and dresses attractively. Every man wants to be with her and every woman wants to be like her. Can Mizuki's boyfriend and a couple of well-meaning schoolchildren uncover the secret of what happened 19 years ago and free Mizuki before the last quarter of the moon falls?
- A salaryman dies at his office suddenly, but can live on and meet his family albeit as a beautiful woman for three days. He didn't want to die just like that. He asked the officials in afterlife whether he can spend time with his family before definitively moving on. He will come back, but has a reprieve as a female for that limited time.
- The story is set in the 80s rock scene and revolves around Nakajima (Kazunobu Mineta), the lead singer of a band called 'Speed Way'. Because he refuses to write trite, pop-friendly songs he is constantly at odds with his own record company. However, he refuses to bend on his rock principles simply for better record sales. The most interesting parts of this movie is how they pay homage to music icon, Bob Dylan who gave the filmmaker his blessing, which is no small feat itself, especially for a Japanese indie debut.
- "Thirteen years afterward, I wonder if those who bombed Hiroshima are looking at me and saying: 'We did it. We were able to kill another person!' They should be," murmurs Minami (played by Kumiko Aso), one of the two leading female characters in Yunagi no Machi, Sakura no Kuni, as she lies dying in 1958, her life brought to a premature end by sickness resulting from her exposure to atomic bomb radiation.This is a story about those who at least initially survived the first U.S. atomic bombing of 1945 and their descendants in contemporary times. Nanami (Rena Tanaka), the leading female character in the contemporary part of the film, is the daughter of Minami's brother, Asahi (Masaaki Sakai), who had evacuated to Ibaraki Prefecture when Hiroshima was bombed. An ordinary 28-year-old, Nanami has no idea about her dad's past or the existence of her late aunts, but she finds out about them when she follows her father to Hiroshima one day, suspicious of his unusual behavior.
- 17-year old Masato, who was kidnapped as an infant and returned to his parents after 40 days. Masato's father is a dentist and he seem to have everything that he needs. However, Masatos life is a constant battle in a loveless relationship with his mother. To help himself cope, Masato comes to believe that the woman who kidnapped him 17 years ago is his real mother and embarks on a journey to find her... His journey brings him to Okinawa where he is reunited with Aiko - his real mother, who is running a small restaurant on the beach. Without revealing his past, Masato moves in as a part-time helper. Aiko is guarded and unwilling to open herself up to Masato, but eventually, his hard work and persistent efforts to win her favor begin to break down the barriers.
