Recluse Wim Van Eck's alibi in an obvious fake. Rude rumor-monger Mrs. Harskamp keeps her cancer-recovered daughter Jolien in bed needlessly, but she sneaks out to be with Tjeerd's abused dogs, which she and Wim care for. Old secrets, including a whole identity, are needed to close the plot.
- At Christmastide, Amsterdam shelter junior salvo Betty de Wijn is murdered. Obvious first suspect is regular homeless junkie Ferdy van Nieuwkerk, who found her with major Dreef. It soon becomes clear even Salvos can be deeply involved in illegality, such as drug dealing, as certainly applies to Betty's ex, now an officer-trainee. Tragically, a suspect is killed himself.
